How to blur wallpaper when opening a folder

folderblur

Looking for a way to blur your iPhone’s Home screen wallpaper whenever a folder is opened? If so, then check out this brand new tweak from Hashbang Productions. FolderBlur, available on its development repo, is a new release from Hashbang Productions that fills what is obviously a very niche requirement. If you want to take it for a spin, then check out our video walkthrough inside, along with details on adding the development beta repo to your Cydia sources.

After you install FolderBlur, the tweak begins working with no configuration. In fact, there is no preference panel installed in the stock Settings app upon the tweak’s installation; just install and go.

If you add the Hashbang Productions beta repo (http://cydia.hbang.ws) to your Cydia sources, then you will be able to find and download FolderBlur for free. No, it’s not a groundbreaking tweak in the least, but as I stated, for those looking for this exact feature, it’ll fill the quite niche well. Excuse me if I’m wrong but doesn’t this already happen? I’m noticing no difference between your video and my phone. They look the same.

It blurs the actual wallpaper, not just that icons.

      • OhSixTJ

Well now I know why I couldn’t see a difference. My wallpaper is solid black.

Lol maybe if the icons blurred also it would make this tweak useful. I don’t see the need for this

      Already being worked on.

just installed it when it added the blur effect to stock folders but its making the close animation super slow, will wait for a smoother more stable version :)

Only the closing animation slows down? Odd, if anything it should be the opening animation since that has to render the blur at the same time. Nothing I can do about that unfortunately, since all it does when closing the folder is fade out and then remove the blur layer.

Just installed it on my iPt 4G running 6.1, runs pretty snappy on here. Wish it blurred the homescreen icons too, but that’s probably a bit more invasive than just blurring the wallpaper. Still, very nice addition to the “blurring” tweaks I have (Bulletin for blurring the NC background and making it translucent, Smudge for blurring everything above the app switcher when I have it open, and now FolderBlur for blurring the wallpaper when a folder is open).

I’m hoping this will be free and by that time it include one or two more features, like someone said here, blurring your other icons/folders.

problem with some devs are they make the tiniest tweak expensive, when we have $2.99 for Miniplayer and $1.99 for Velox who would pay $1.99 for StatusHUD? I sure wouldn’t, there are so many like that now even Ayra how can the dev improve it more in iOS 7 when jailbreak comes out?

      • Diego Gastón Milano

        They couldn’t. ;)

I’ll always release extremely simple stuff like this for free. Icon blur is coming too.

        Thank you sir. :)

your one dev who interacts with everyone thats a really nice thing to do :) and really happy to hear this news as devs now just release the simplest tweak for $2 or more
