‘No More Shadows’ hides the shadow that appears when launching apps

No More Shadows Featured

Every time I’m convinced that there’s absolutely nothing new under the sun when it comes to jailbreak development, someone comes with some far out idea that I’ve never seen before. Case in point? No More Shadows.

This is a jailbreak tweak that hides the shadow that appears on an app icon when tapping the app on the Home screen. Take a look at our video walkthrough inside for a before and after comparison showcasing how No More Shadows works.

No More Shadows makes it extremely hard to tell whether or not your touches register when tapping an app icon, because the signal that alerted you to the touch — the shadow — is no more. So the question stands to be asked, why in the world would anyone in their right mind want to have a tweak like this on their iPhone? That’s a very valid question, and I’m interested to hear your reasoning in the comment section below.

In the meantime, You can find No More Shadows free of charge on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. There are no options to configure at all, just install it and go. I’ll see you in the comments.

      hahahahahaha !!!!!!!!

  • David Gitman

Meh need tweaks for iOS 7

    • J™

How? its not even jailbreakable yet!

      • David Gitman

Thats what I meant :P I want jailbreak for the beta :P

Barely a week since the current/first beta release too. Writing/updating tweaks for iOS 7 now is just asking for trouble (a lot can change between now and the public release)

  • yader

does it make opening apps quicker? by not registering a shadow in the sequence?

Very few will find this tweak useful but this is VERY useful for themers. I use PageJumps with my theme and it was very distracting to see that ugly shadow everytime I selected the PageJump shortcut. I was very happy to see this tweak. I might have been the only one, though.

    I’m keeping my shadow.

  • jocastro

    stupid

      And your comment isn’t?

      • bw00ds

        He’s just expressing his opinion.

      • Joseph

He’s not doing a good job of it if all he says is “stupid”.

      • bw00ds

Not much difference in the first post of this thread. How else is he supposed to elaborate?

      • EpicFacepalm

Chuck is expressing his opinion too.

      • bw00ds

        Yes, and…?

      • EpicFacepalm

        Infinite loop. Divide by zero.

      • bw00ds

        lol

  • Chuck Finley

There’s a really obvious way of telling if your tap registered or not.

If your tap registered, oddly enough the app opens.

    Sooo cooooll!!

  • onebyone_

I want the same launch awesome effect as iOS7 when we open any app
    to my iOS 6.1.2
just make a tweak for that please :P

  • Evad3_Me

Wow, at least it isn’t a paid tweak. :p

  • Gorgonphone

    lame

  • Hi

Very useless tweak in my opinion. Does the shadow really bug anyone? I mean, you only see it for like a split-second before the app opens.

  • Maximilian Reisch

    Fscking odd.

Lol this is crap when you in the app you forget all about that shadow shit…
