Is iOS 6 a dud for jailbreakers?

By , Sep 17, 2012

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and for that reason, let me preface this post with a disclaimer: I’m not bashing anyone’s right to an opinion. That’s one of the things that makes life so great, differing points of view on all sorts of matters.

Apparently, whoever posted this post on the Big Boss blog isn’t too high on iOS 6, in fact, they go as far as to label it a “dud.”

I certainly don’t feel that way; I’m the complete opposite. That made me think, do most jailbreakers feel this way about iOS 6? Are many of you guys and gals planning on staying right where you are on iOS 5 until a jailbreak is released for iOS 6?

To call it disappointing, or a bit lacking is one thing, but to outright label the as-of-yet unreleased OS upgrade a dud, is a pretty strong statement.

iOS 6 is a total dud. I think it’s by far the worst major upgrade Apple has ever provided. It’s more like a 5.1.2 than a 6.0. Let’s take a look at the major differences moving to iOS6 from iOS 5.

He’s basically saying that iOS 6 brings almost nothing new and/or interesting to the table, and anything it does bring can already be done on iOS 5 with a jailbroken device. He also complains about the absense of Google Maps, or the traditional YouTube app. The YouTube app, as you know, has been replaced by Google’s own offering, and if you’re not fond of Apple’s Maps, then more than likely Google will release their own Maps app soon enough.

While it may be true that iOS 6 doesn’t bring a ton of new in your face features to the OS, there are still like 200 new features involved. Some of the new features are fairly big, like Maps, updated Siri, Facebook integration, Turn by Turn directions, FaceTime over cellular, Shared Photo Streams, Panorama mode, Full screen Safari, VIP inboxes, and many more.

It may not be on an iOS 5 level in terms of wow-factor, but iOS 6 is certainly no slouch in my humble opinion.

The post then goes on to say that:

the iPhone 5 seems equally disappointing

So, the iPhone 5 is a dud, too? Hmmm, that makes me question the seriousness of the post.

I mean, I understand if you’re upset about the lack of a jailbreak for iOS 6, but that’s been the game since the beginning of time. Users will have to choose, at least for a while, between an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak, or iOS 6. While that is a definite bummer, I don’t see myself opting out of iOS 6 in order to stay back on a jailbroken instance of iOS 5.

To me, once you go iOS 6, you simply don’t go back, it’s that good.

What do you say?

iOS 6 is okay…. just a minor upgrade should have been iOS 5.5 tbh. But i understand how apple does a minor upgrade when a new iPhone comes out (i.e. iphone 4/5) and major upgrade when the upgraded version of the year before’s model (iphone 4S)

I realllllllllly like the iPhone 5 though. So damn sexy.

This could be the tick tock of Intel? Tick = Major iPhone hardware; Tock = major iOS overhaul.

I think iOS 6 is bringing some cool things to the table, but playing devil’s advocate, everything announced is pretty familiar territory; so I can kinda see from where the post author was coming. i’m still debating whether or not to wait for the JB for iOS 6 – many of my JB tweaks I’d sorely miss…

    • SimonReidy

Same here. At this stage I think jailbroken iOS5 is actually a lot more useful and diverse than stock iOS6. I’m starting to think I’m going to hold off for both my iPhone4 and iPad2 until a jailbreak is available. I plan to also buy an iPhone5, but not until there’s confirmation of a useable exploit.

I’d be so depressed if Apple have really found a way to lockdown the new A6 like the new AppleTV. Without jailbreaking the iPhone5 will feel like a Ferrari speed-limited to 20 miles an hour.

      • Emre SÜMENGEN

        Nice metaphor :)

Agree with yourself. I have ordered my iPhone 5 and looking forward to ios6. After having both the iPhone 4 and 4s since release I’m looking forward to having a different phone in my hand. If people are disappointed with how the new iPhone looks better get used it as Porsche do not change the look of the 911 each time do they. Btw as soon as the jailbreak arrives I will be doing it but between now and then I can live with out it.

  • http://twitter.com/doubleaa25 Adham

iOS 6 was definitely not a huge major upgrade since it didnt bring any really amazing new feature. But then again it isn’t a dud because it still brought some much needed updates from iOS 5. As a result, we should see this as a standard major update.

I really cannot see myself going back to iOS 5 after the upgrade.

  • chjode

The comment about the old Maps app raises a good question– is there a way to archive the old versions of pre-installed apps to then use with iOS 6? I’m thinking of the Maps app and Music app (I like podcasts to be part of the Music app). Can I use iFile or something to extract or export the old apps?

    • http://djterm.de/ Robo Term

      No chance

      • Emre SÜMENGEN

Actually, this could well be possible… You know, calculator app was extracted and installed on an iPad before. So, why not…

But, it would take someone who knew what he/she’s doing…

      • christodouluke

Also, the developer of dashboard x managed to port the old youtube app to a newer beta.

    • http://djterm.de/ Robo Term

i found smth on sinfuliphone but idb blocks the link.

so go to google and google “extract apple stock app from ios”. one of the first hits should be the entry in sinfuliphone…

  • http://twitter.com/warrenskipper Warren Skipper

I can definitely wait until a jailbreak is released before upgrading to iOS 6. Many of the “new” features I currently have on my jailbroken iOS 5 and then some. The other offerings aren’t enough to make me give that up.

I upgraded to iOS 6 about a week ago and I don’t regret it at all. Im digging the new features and although an advocate for jailbreaking, I took a look at my tweaks that i use and yes there are a few ones I absolutely love, although I can live without them. Many tweaks i had were mostly just fun to have because they are not originally in the iOS. I know a jB will be out eventually for iOS 6 and I can wait until then.

  • http://twitter.com/AlmosPau Jon Allen

IOS6 brings PLENTY to the table, and looking forward to it.. I think I only say this because i have a new iPad to install this OS on. lol.. Basically I have an iPhone 4 that has everything I need on it (Siri, MyWi, etc) and every other thing i could think of that i enjoy my jailbroken iPhone 4 for until at least i’m ready for another 2 year contract… Great stuff Apple!! I know you’ll produce another phone next year! That will be interesting to see!

  • Al

The issue at hand will be how long a jailbreak will be released, and the last jailbreak took awhile. I’m not knocking who ever contributed to the jailbreak, but obviously its a long process.

I plan on updating, and when the jailbreak comes…then that jus adds icing to the cake. But this time around I’ll update, I’ll definitely miss my tweaks.. But the cat and mouse game Apple plays is tiresome to the jailbreak community..

    • Marc Taksel

I will also give up my jailbroken 5.1.1 for the new iOS6 then when the new untethered jailbreak comes out I will utilize it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/liamsagooch Liam Googolplex Merlyn

If I remember rightly, the DevTeam had actually already jailbroke the original beta release of iOS6, and while that may have changed by now, I can’t imagine it’ll take long for them to have it running again, the iPhone 5 however is a different story.

    • Gorgonphone

it will be a race to see who can JB the iphone5 first..lollo

  • http://twitter.com/leothelion96 Leonard Wong

I really think that iOS 6 is a significant update on iOS
It packed with lots of cool features and update on existing feature
I see no reason for me to keep jailbreak once it goes public tomorrow
Of course having jailbreak would be wonderful but the stuff in iOS 6 really make me hard to go back to iOS 5
Especially if you have the new iPad then I really think you should stay on iOS 6 as you can use Siri
As of iPhone 5 , I think is not just a taller screen than iPhone 4S. It is also a wonderful device with lots of enhancements and I sure to get it next month when my contract expires!
Overall , iOS 6 and iPhone ain’t dud at all.

  • http://twitter.com/Hexane_ Hexane

Misleading title much? Thats what I think.

How is the title misleading? It’s very clear. You’re reaching.

      • http://twitter.com/Hexane_ Hexane

“is iOS 6 a dud for jailbreakers?” Sort of implies it’s detrimental to those who jailbreak their phones.

      • Guest

The title does kind of sound like a jailbreak won’t come out for iOS6, but that’s stretching it, lol

  • dre g

I plan on running jailbroken iOS 6 on both my iPod Touch 4th gen and the new iPod Touch when it arrives (already on order), even if it means a tethered jailbreak

  • http://twitter.com/Antoniogzzx onebyone.

    All it’s about the money
they need a “clean” iOS (like 6) to launch with the new iPhone 5
no matters if the upgrades are minor or big! they just need a damn clean number not 5.1.2 or 5.2

    just marketing.
    thanks Jeff! for this article.

  • http://twitter.com/borhansci Borhan Salah

    People never be satisfied ……..

They are claiming that iPhone 5 is “boring” and there is no major hardware changes on it , Although it got a really tons of enhancements you will never see it on another phone…

Processor chip, Camera, body enclosure, display, memory, wireless, connecting cable, headset, mic. And speakers…..

For god sake what’s left hehind To call it a “Cool” and new iPhone !!!

The same deal for iOS 6 !!!

    • Emre SÜMENGEN

Having a “new cable” is not a very good thing for people… It’s rather a BAD thing usually.

Camera is the same, if not for the software features added by the use of the new chip.

Memory has never been a concern for iDevice buyers.

And I had never been excited over a bundled microphone, and I doubt I will ever be, no matter Apple can call theirs.

So, as you can see, there’s a few I can count left behind.

It all differs from person to person, of course… But, it is not “obvious” as with the path from iphone3GS to iphone4 (unfortunately)…

      • http://twitter.com/borhansci Borhan Salah

So if you don’t care about all this, what do u wanted or expected to consider it a “Cool” upgrade ?!

      • Emre SÜMENGEN

Did you consider only these when you switched from 3G or 3GS to i4? Do you really think millions considered that it’s better because it’s got more RAM?

I hoped for a “leap” again, not a step or two going further…

The only two things that I’m looking forward with the iPhone 5 are better performance and better battery… I’m pretty happy with the 4S in terms of performance, but faster is usually better.

And, if I knew what would make that “wow” effect, I guess I’d be called Steve Jobs :( *sigh*

  • http://www.eraser.org B. Braun

I’ll stick with 5.1.1 until the jailbreak is out. Apple Maps? Flyover may look nice, but how often do you really need it? Turn by turn- i have navigon installed. Facebook? I do not have an acccount. Some Siri improvements? i can have them all with the jb.
Panaorama pictures ca be taken by al lot of Apps, even some free apps. Do not disturb, nice but not important, there is an App for that.

  • Metroview

I’m loving iOS 6 right now but at the same time I’m kind of missing some tweaks such as biteSMS, NCSettings, IntelliScreenX, ProTube, Pandora Skip Hack, SnowCover, Display Recorder, TetherMe, Mail Enhancer, AirBlue Sharing and TwitkaFly.

The big question is can we use our SHSH and APTicket to downgrade back to 5.1.1 or lower when iOS 6 officially releases and the signing window is closed? I know A4s can do it with stiched IPSWs but what about A5s? We can’t get into pwned DFU on these.

    • SimonReidy

Excellent question. I have a question for since you seem knowledgeable on this subject. When you say “APTicket” is this included when you save your blobs for iOS 5.1.1 with Tiny Umbrella? Or should I be using something else to save SHSH/APTicket to ensure I can always get back to 5.1?

On the topic of iOS6, I agree that its the most underwhelming upgrade from Apple yet, but that’s what jailbreaking is for. The iPhone5 is going to be lightening fast, and with its new A6 chip and 1GB of ram, it will really open up the doors for some awesome new tweaks and/or let you run a heap of tweaks without noticeable slowdown of the device.

I have to be honest and say that if I couldn’t jailbreak any more, I would be forced to switch to Android. I love Apple hardware, but stock iOS is way too limited, and jailbreaking makes iDevices so much more useful and fun. I’m just praying the A6 can be jailbroken, and I’m holding off on buying an iPhone5 until it is.

      • Metroview

Yes. When you save your SHSH blobs with TinyUmbrella, the APTicket is saved with the blobs too. iSHSHit (on Cydia) can also save your SHSH with the APTicket.

      • http://adam.hbang.ws/ Adam D

The APTicket is the name of the new (iOS 5+) SHSH system

      • SimonReidy

        Cool. Thanks for the info.

  • http://twitter.com/Gravemind2401 Rhys Grimshaw

with old hardware like my 3GS, i wont be moving to iOS6 anyway. As for my ipod, ill probably hold off until at least a tethered jailbreak is ready because I heavily use tweaks on it

  • http://twitter.com/Woscoe_ Keith

I always do the same thing every year. Stay stock for a few months then jailbreak it when it releases. Not a dud but not a major update. Scott Forstall needs to step it up real talk we all need to email this guy and let him know. Hoping iOS 7 will finally have some major changes we can see on the homescreen and not just a new wallpaper.

  • http://www.facebook.com/luisreyespr Luis

I may feel like him, its the first time in 5 years that the new iPhone doesn’t provide any software exclusive feature compared to its predecessors. But since im tired from my 2 years iPhone 4 I can tell you that the faster iPhone 5 is a must for me because is just better. And about iOS 6, it may have been great for nonjailbreakers; but for us jailbreaker theres kind of nothing interesting. Still hope it brings better performance and of course more APIs for us developers. Life is a lot about transitions, it can only get better with time.

    • http://twitter.com/desaintpreux Highlander

It will NEVER EVER bring performance to an older phone…

    • Emre SÜMENGEN

There’s the “take photo while recording a video” feature, that I believe will be i5-exclusive… (Correct me if I’m wrong)

      • http://twitter.com/chris12923 Chris Wagers

Galaxy s3 has that and I’m pretty sure other android devices as well. But I’m glad apple is including it now.

      • Emre SÜMENGEN

        Possibly… I’m not saying it’s a major feature, or that I’ll use it ever…

Just trying to justify an exclusive iPhone 5 feature, with respect to other iPhones…

That sure was not a comparison…

Just off topic but I think Apple was and is working hard on new UI for future iOS and that’s why they have not put a lot of effort in iOS 6.

    Just a Random guess.

    • WatchTheThrone

I agree. iOS 7 is where you’re gonna see some amazing new features!! 1 year new hardware with little software features. Next year same hardware (with a couple upgrades) with very good software improvements and features!!

      • http://twitter.com/redevil1987 Damian W

What you are saying about ios 7, was already thought about ios 5. Still, ios 5 did not really change much in the game.

      • JamesR624

Exactly. When are you people gonna realize Apple isnt about making the future anymore. They’re out to MAKE MONEY!!!

I still dont get why you people dont get this. Oh, the MPAA, RIAA, Viacom, and Verizon are bad and do bad things, but when apple does the EXACT same monopolistic crap as them, it perfectly fine because their gadgets are shiny and pretty.

      • Gorgonphone

        ^^^I agree 100000%

      • Gorgonphone

i swear to god is ios7 has that same boring apps grid i will flip out…lolol

      • SimonReidy

You and me both. I think they surely must know by now that the majority of Apple owners feel this way. Apple has nailed the hardware, and an ultra-smooth UI, but the “shiny blue 2007 UI” and static icon grid are the stalest parts of iOS, just crying out for an upgrade.

And at the very least they could make the weather icon dynamic, the clock icon work and open up widgets to 3rd party devs for the notification centre (that expectation has been out for ages and still no budging from Apple).

    • Johnathan Jennings

Yeah I’m expecting a redesign in iOS 7. It just sounds like a good number to refresh on.

      • Gorgonphone

        So did 6..

and 5 and 4. Basically dont trust Apple when it comes to redesigning.

    • Blake

I agree. Apple spends a lot of time and a ton of resources on their products. Its my best bet that they are working hard on something spectacular. They don’t just want to throw some junk together like android. They want everything to work properly and how it is suppose to work. Thats just my opinion though.

I don’t understand the big deal with jailbreaking! It doesn’t really do anything new that the native iOS does; well it does brick phones!

    • SimonReidy

You have to be joking? Its near impossible to brick an iPhone. You can always restore in iTunes and that’s worst case scenario.

It would take me all day to list the benefits of jailbreaking. Put simply it opens up the device so you can whatever you want with it. There’s a whole new world of tweaks and apps available, and if you set up your phone with the right tweaks, it feels like a new device with features and a UI two years ahead of Apple. Plus the little things that Apple would never allow, like accessing the file system and changing your default browser. They are things I couldn’t live without.

    • Cow

I think iOS 6 just has some things that we don’t use everyday, but are necessary. I do agree that there should of been something spectacular or at least something that everyone could use..

  • SimonReidy

I’d love to see iDB put a poll up that asks “Would you stick to iOS if you couldn’t jailbreak?”. The answer for me is a definite no. I’d be very interested in what other readers think.

    • Emre SÜMENGEN

to iOS5 or iOS in general? (Just wondering…)

      • SimonReidy

iOS in general. I’ve been jailbreaking since the iPhone 3G and have watched the scene improve to the point where there are so many useful tweaks and apps in Cydia, that its very hard to go back to stock iOS. iOS is just so locked down and limited in capabilities until you set it free with jailbreaking.

      • Emre SÜMENGEN

        I think I’ll agree… I mean, I can’t really think of myself using a non-jailbroken iDevice right now…

But, would I switch? I doubt it… To an android? Not really. If I’d not consider apps, a Lumia would look even better. (Until ofcourse, a Nexus device goes out that’s not a Samsung… I find their devices a little crappier than I’d like)

        So, +1 from me, too…

      • SimonReidy

The only Android phone I would ever consider is an official Nexus device. It’s the only way to avoid crappy manafacturer skins and to get your updates directly from Google, rather than waiting 6 months or more for the phone manufacturer to update their skinned version of Android (or by rooting and installing a custom ROM on your device, but I’d rather stock JellyBean from Google).

I really like the camera on the new Windows8 Lumia 920 too (optical image stabilisation gives some brilliant low light shots that are sharp and vibrant. The only thing is the huge lack of apps for WindowsPhone at the moment, plus WindowsPhone is still lacking may of the smaller features that iOS has. Microsoft’s new UI is really fast and slick though, and I like Nokia’s build quality and hardware, so I’d be considering one if WindowsPhone apps were more readily available. Give it another year after Windows 8 has been out for a while and I think WindowsPhone8 will be much more popular (given its a natural fit with Win8).

      • Gorgonphone

nexus one is still a very slick phone..

      • SimonReidy

Its not bad, but its camera is awful and its processor and pentile screen are now dated (the 720p screen lacks a full 1/3 sub-pixels of a ‘non-pentile’ AMOLED or LCD and the colours are very over-saturated). Software wise, it still runs and looks great with Jellybean though.

The next Nexus phone is due very soon (October). I’m sure that will set a new standard for Android.

      • Gorgonphone

yup i can’t use ios without a JB its too damn lame

  • http://twitter.com/HiTekkSteff Stephaughn Alston

I agree, I think iOS 6 is terrible, one of the main reasons is because they always say the new OS has over 200 new features but most of those features are under the hood meaning it’s simple things like the “new” banner when you download a new app from the App Store. It’s something nice to have but it’s not something to go crazy over. Those of us that had an iPhone from the beginning need something fresh, something to wow us. I really hope Apple has something up their sleeve for iOS 7 or it’s going to start going down hill from there… I think.

  • http://twitter.com/tech_plus Cezar

Well, the decision might as well be based on your location. I’m in a place where most of SIRI’s so called new features and new maps app are not available while Google’s local optimisation is 10 times better.
There were no big improvements in either iOS or the HW so I think all those frustrated users have all the right to be that way. I will stay on iOS 5 for now. Tested 6 and I am not surprised. I like the panorama full res function but except that… nothing else draws me to it.

  • http://twitter.com/Alanoftheyear Alan Silvestri

i agree with iOS6 being a good update…IF you have an iphone 4s….i have an iphone 4..and most features are missing….that sucks….i’ll stick with my jailbreak.

  • http://twitter.com/adhithyagokul Adhithya Gokul

The main reason I jailbreak is for Zephyr and SBsettings. If something like these tweaks are includes in stock OS there is no reason for me to jailbreak but I highly doubt that.

    • Marc Taksel

my reason for jailbreaking is PDANet which I saw was standard on my nephew’s Android phone

      • http://twitter.com/adhithyagokul Adhithya Gokul

There is Personal Hotspot in iPhone stock iOS too . I think its the carriers who charge more for tethering

      • Blake

Yep. If you pay att they will “unlock” the tethering feature. Which is BS to me because you are paying for a set amount of data. You should be able to use it however you please.

Honestly, I am tending to go away from Jailbreaks. I am jailbroken on the iPhone 4 right now. I have very few updates from the jailbreak. Most important thing for me is iFile and PDANet. But I have noticed that when I jailbreak, my phone mismanages the memory and seems to have issues with using too much memory until it slows down way to much. I have to reboot it every few days.

That is not cool. The problem with the apps in the jailbreak, is there seems to be a lot of memory leaks and not enough serious testing.

Most likely, I will not look at jailbreaking my iPhone 5 when I get it. I would rather have it functioning correctly.

      Then no PDANet.

i agree with the memory leaks. Sometimes I find myself puzzle where all the memory went.

ON the other hand, I know that 200 tweaks will always affect the memory big time. Even when you dont run anything.

i,m going iOS 6………i already come to the conclusion if i,m gonna be sticking to iphone i have to start looking less towards jailbreaking.. reason been every new iOS release makes it harder to jailbreak

    • http://twitter.com/desaintpreux Highlander

      I agree… but… honestly… if i can’t jailbreak, i will not upgrade… that simple… The phone is just so much more usable

bite sms and lock info simply change what the phone really does or is capable of.

its a dud for folk clinging onto their 3GS, there’s nothing to entice these users (hardware restrictions) to want to leave iOS5. i will therefore be staying put :)

For Apple to give this update a new number like ios6, I expected more honestly. I can’t imagine anyone excited about FaceTime over cellular or Facebook integration. Passport, negative. The only new feature I’m kind of excited for is the new maps but Navigon was more than good enough for me. I think Apple could’ve done more with added 1/2″ of screen. I’m looking forward to the hardware improvements way more than the software improvements. I sometimes wish I had the speed, smoothness, camera, and screen of the iPhone 5 with Jelly Bean and add the lie tiles to it too ;)

I look at the upgrade to from iOS 5 to iOS 6 as being a lot like OS X Lion to OS X Mountain Lion. There may not be a ton of new features but the features it does bring are done right and the previous software features are much improved over it’s predecessor. As far as the jailbreak goes, in my opinion it’s not nearly as revolutionary as it used to be to jailbreak our iOS devices being the fact that many of the best jailbreak tweaks and hacks have made their way into stock iOS. The task of creating these jailbreaks has become a monumental task with Apple’s newest security restrictions, data collection, and what I like to call “watchdog software” it’s becoming even more difficult to find usable exploits before they are patched. I do however hope there is a future jailbreak for iOS 6 being our iPhone 5′s will be running that software right out of the box. I have spent a lot of money over the years on numerous jailbreak tweaks and 3rd party software and I appreciate the work that the jailbreak community puts into it. I will miss a few of the tweaks that I use but at the same time since iOS 5 came out I don’t use nearly as many of them as I once did. Recently I have noticed a downward slump in Cydia tweaks with the exception of a chosen few. Many of the latest tweaks have been either complete garbage or a rip off of a prior tweak that has just been slightly reworked. I do hope there is a future in jailbreaking but if there isn’t I’m fine with that too because it’s just not as much of a game changer as it used to be.

I bet many of uns bought or will buy the iPhone 5 anyway so we’re gonna have iOS 6 installed from the beginning. I can’t wait for it :) My iPad 3 is gonna get the iOS 6 treatment aswell.

All i want of any new iOS is both SB Settings and extended folder options. These are the single two factors that keep bringing me back to a jailbroken state. And yes being able to slightly customise animations , icons, sounds etc are a bonus and add some fun into an otherwise basic functionality. Such a shame after so many revisions of the OS that Apple has yet to bake in toggles and better folder options.

I could live without an iOS6 jailbreak. I would definitely miss NCSettings though. The only tweak I use.

Please, name me features in iOS 6 that aren’t available to jailbroken iOS 5 users? Shared photo streams, VIP inboxes, some Siri improvements, Passbook… None of that is really major, as notification center and Siri were. Vast majority of the things they implemented are already available Cydia tweaks, or features, again, already available on other smartphones. I wouldn’t go as far as to call it a dud, but it’s not really that far off.

    • Emre SÜMENGEN

Well, notification center was not major either… At least for jailbreakers.

      Spot on. :)

Apple maps ;D (Apple maps is better than google maps and are available in more locations, check Jeff’s video)

      • http://www.youtube.com/Tr1pTr0p Tr1pTr0p

Apple Maps LOOK better, and only 3D is available in more places. Both services are available almost everywhere. Google has been doing maps for years, so don’t think how Apple is better because their service hasn’t even been officially released. Where are transit and street view? Gone…

I’ve been jailbreaking since the first iPhone came out, mainly to unlock it so I can use T-Mobile. I’ve tried pretty much every jailbreak app/tweak/theme you can imagine and to me, after all this time, jailbreaking just isnt that interesting anymore. Your phone runs better/faster/smoother when It’s not jailbroken and that’s what’s important to me. I will be saving my SHSH blobs and upgrading to iOS 6 on day 1. People expect too much from iOS updates…just be happy iPhones don’t run on Android

  • http://www.facebook.com/xComebackxKidx Craig Rhudy

WIth all the hate and grief the people who create these FREE jailbreaks take, I wouldnt be shocked at all if they decided to keep the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak to themselves or just didnt bother with it at all. Most of you people aren’t fans of the iphone, you’re fans of jailbroken iphones. I think the device is great with or without a jailbreak

    • genXhippie

If you believe the iPhone is great w/out jbing it, your opinion on jbing is pointless imo. I believe the iPhone is a great phone only after it’s been jailbroken. Otherwise, a standard iPhone is average at best compared to top tier android phones imo.

I’m really hoping for a jailbreak for iOS 6 ASAP for the 4S. I have this watch coming that recently announced they are dropping iOS 5 support. I’m on the fence about canceling it…
