This jailbreak tweak lets you tell time using vibrations

By , Jul 11, 2012

Many people will think this tweak is completely devoid of usefulness, and to an extent I agree, but you have to admit that the idea and execution is original, and well done.

VibeTime is a jailbreak tweak available on Cydia, that allows you to tell the current time using vibrations. That means that it’s totally within the realm of possibilities to tell the time without pulling your phone out of your pocket.

Sure, not many will find a real world use for this, but the idea and execution is pretty interesting…

I could definitely understand how a feature like VibeTime would be of help to those who may be visually impaired. I could also see it being useful for checking the time while in a meeting, assuming there are no clocks on the wall, or on your wrist (admittedly, highly unlikely).

Again, it’s not something that everyone will get excited about, but you have to respect how well executed it is. If you’re interested, you can download it for $2.00 on Cydia’s BigBoss repo.

What do you think?

I love VibeTime. It’s useful for this little trick I show people. I’m like, “I can tell what time it is without looking at a clock.” And then people randomly ask me what time it is. So I carefully double press the lock button (my Activator gesture) to start VibeTime and in about 3 seconds I can tell someone exactly what time it is. No one has figured it out yet. XD
    Magic.

Pointless and $2.00 .. This sort of tweak should be free..

    • Dan

I agree, ridiculous to charge 2$ for this

I have always wondered why $1 is the minimum people charge for their tweaks. To me a nice $0.50 fee would be sufficient for tweaks that aren’t really necessary and only appeal to a small audience. I bet in the long run they’d make a lot more charging 50 cents for this, instead of $2.

It beats getting phone took in class when your checking the time.

    • http://twitter.com/oneBurge Burge

You shouldn’t least know what time it is because of the class your in ..
Plus don’t you have clocks in classrooms ? I know I did when I was at school.

They don’t always work and your phone is much more accurate.

      • Falk M.

Well, your should be able to afford a pack of AA’s…. XD

More accurate? Well iPhones are dead accurate as hell, however, you could always setup an atomic clock synching wall clock. :)

You should be worried about your grammar and spelling.

Maybe English is not his first language, it surely isn’t mine. Annoys the hell out of me when people like you make comments like this. You understand what he is trying to say don’t you?

I could only get it to work once in a blue moon.

There should be a section in Cydia that shows the top paid tweaks just like the app store.. Then maybe some of these Devs will see that they are charging to much for some of there tweaks..and we end users will see what’s worth paying for and what is not

    • SimonReidy

The ability to rate apps and leave comments is something that would make Cydia much better too. Probably cost way too much to impliment and maintain though I guess.

    • http://twitter.com/oneBurge Burge

How can someone vote this down ? It’s not a go at someone it’s not having a go at a tweak.. It’s a comment on something that Cydia could do with.. Or have I piss off a Dev because there are over charging for a naff tweak.. ?

I wish every app had at least a 1 day trail, I never buy these b/c I want to test it first!

      You lack some repos….. :P

I just made a FREE tweak called ‘TimeSpeak’ that tell you directly the time. It’s easier to understand and it could also tell you the date.
