Dashboard X now available on Cydia

By , May 9, 2012

Dashboard X, the long awaited jailbreak tweak that allows you to add widgets to your Home screen is now available for download on Cydia, via the ModMyi repo for $1.99.

This tweak allows you to take existing widgets created for Notification Center and position them anywhere on your iPhone or iPad Home screen. On top of that, new widgets are being developed, such as Dashtweet, a Dashboard X widget that allows you to send tweets from anywhere on your Home screen.

Something tells me we’re going to see many more widgets designed to work with Dashboard X. Whether you like the concept or not, it’s nice to see the jailbreak community being so creative.

    This is awesome

I like this…. Just bought it , and I am satistied. Using NCSettings on springboard. Anyone has other tweaks or sugestions ?? Thanks

      • Anonymous

WeeRadio is one of the best I’ve come across so far (works beautifully on iPad and iPhone either in the NC or on the springboard). Stream any radio-station that broadcasts over the net by adding their .pls (playlist) address. You can add as many stations as you want and it even supports airplay switching from the widget.

  • I think this concept is AWESOME. However, it looks more natural on the ipad. Now if apple gave us a 4-4.3″ phone then I would be game for it.

    • I don’t want a 4.3″ phone. This size is ridicoulous really.

      • Anonymous

Shut up. 3.5″ is way too small. Only little kids, girls, and asians think a bigger phone is too hard to hold. And they’re all wrong. You’re going to feel really dumb trying to defend a smaller screen when Apple comes out w a bigger one and makes all you fanboys realize how much better it is.

      • You STFU! Your fingers are obviously oversized if you feel that 4.3″ is perfect… 4″ for one hand operation is the biggest. 4.3″ is way to big. Wanna 4.3″? Go to android you moron.

      • Come on now, there was no need to add “Asians” in that comment.

      • It’s because Americans eat too much fast food so they grow fat and they can’t type because their fingers are too fat. Their fingers can’t fit the screen

      • Are you using phone by your fingers or elbow???

      • 4.3 is fine…

  • SWEEEET!!! Thanks for the update!!!

  • This tweak is no where to be found. I searched and searched but no where to be found. Am I doing something wrong here? Someone help me. Jeff?

    • Oh and yes, I have modmyi repo. That question, no need to ask.

  • Ah ha. It popped up.

    • As usual, I panic, post after a search. Then reload and refresh and whala. It arrives mysteriously. Ha ha. My phone is a copperfield

  • I got a real simple question…

Why on earth would anyone want this as opposed to the Notification Center widgets in the notification center like Intelliscreen x and SB settings?

    • simply.. fot instance i have no apps on my home screen. i put all my apps in folders and threw them all on the dock with infinidock. so now i can put a widget or two on my home screen 🙂

  • Okay so when I hold down the home button in jiggle mode nothing is appearing allowing me to add widgets?

    • You have to go into wiggle mode and then once more hold on the screen I believe.

  • This tweak is absolutely perfect for the iPad this is great.

    Great Job ORi

  • I’m having the same problem too, i can’t seem too add widgets to the homescreen in jiggle mode..

    • You have to go into wiggle mode and then once more hold on the screen I believe.

      • Yeah if I do that, nothing happens. I just stays jiggling.

      • Go into settings and disable the first option. Its calle long tap to edit mode

      • when i disable that option still nothing works. is this just a bug or am i really doing somethingg wrong?

Can these widgets be place in the spotlight search page SB panel?

    • do you have find the solution please?

  • In general I’m loving it so far, but a few incompatibilities I’ve found:
    1. MemoCenter for Notification Center: I got trapped in a respring cycle when I added this widget.
    2. MC Pro Controls

    • Im getting respring cycle as well. Installed fine at first then played with the different stock widgets, it suddenly resprung and i havent been able to install it again without it springing into safe mode 🙁

I’m most interested to see what sorts of widgets get developed to support this.

    • Anonymous

AFAIK all the notification widgets are supported

      • Anonymous

Yes and no. Some show up on the springboard but then don’t work. Most seem to though. I’m mainly having problems with widgets that require interaction (i.e. Weesearch Pro).

  • Doesn’t play nice w Infinidock. Fail

    • Anonymous

Please don’t take this the wrong way, because its genuinely just a bit of friendly advice, but wouldn’t it be better to say something like – “Just to let people know this isn’t playing well with Infinidock. Hope there’s a fix soon” ? (as well as emailing the developer in a friendly way advising of the problem).

Automatically labelling a tweak as a “FAIL” at launch, because of a bug is pretty harsh. Imagine all the work the devs have to do testing for incompatibilities with all the tweaks available out there! There’s always going to be a bug or two with new releases and I’m sure we’ll see updates to address it.

Sorry for the rant, but I guess I’m just sick of seeing so many rude and/or aggressive posts in the comments here. People need to understand how difficult it is developing 100% stable/compatible tweaks.

      • true that man, my bad. and, there is already an update that fixed the issue. WIN.

      • Anonymous

Wow. Someone on the Internet that can take constructive criticism! WIN for you sir! 😉

Does anyone have any recommendations on “upcomming calendar events” widget?

  • Anonymous

This is awesome. The only problem I’m having is the occasional respring to safe mode when I delete a widget from the Springboard. Apart from that it’s working great.

Its actually quite surreal to finally have proper widgets on the iPad after waiting so long for something other than html/winterboard widgets.

Bought this app and I fuckin love it!!

When I install Dashboard X my device is permanently in wiggle mode. I can tap and hold again to bring up the widget selection screen, and place them, but I cannot exit out of wiggle mode once back on the home screen. Is anyone else having this issue, or know of a compatibility issue with another tweak?

  • Anyone else having issues with the stock weather widget sometimes being offline?

    • i have the same issue on my iphone 4s. this might be an A5 problem. a little help from someone would be awesome

      • It’s because of infinidock / infiniboard tweak. Removed them and now works fine.

      • I don’t have either of those but I have infini folder. Should I remove that too??

      • Hum.. I’ve removed that too on my iPad.. but be careful, when you remove it, you’ll probably will get all the icons outside your folders. /it happened to me)

  • crashes my iphone ios 5.0.1 :(((( fuck this

  • Buggy has hell for me, phone reboots occasionally and when i need to respring the icons are always behind widgets so i keep having to relocate them

    • Me too! ya i respring and my apps are behind my widgets… dashtweet doesnt e en actuah post stuff. hopefully it will all get worked out
