AT&T and Sprint sell more iPhones than all other smartphones combined

By , Apr 2, 2012

Earlier today we told you that the iPhone 4S has been the top-selling smartphone for all three of Apple’s US carrier partners for the last 6 months. The information came from a Canaccord Genuity investor note that was sent out to shareholders this morning.

Now, AllThingsD is pointing to another part of the report that also provides some interesting data. Not only is Apple’s handset the top-selling smartphone here in the US, but some carriers are actually selling more iPhones than all other smartphones combined…

AllThingsD reports:

“Our March checks indicated the iPhone continues to extend its market share gains,” Canaccord Genuity analyst Mike Walkley writes in a note to clients today. “In fact, we believe iPhones are outselling all other smartphones combined at Sprint and AT&T and selling at roughly equal volume to all Android smartphones at Verizon.”

It’s not hard to figure out why the iPhone appears to be extra popular with these two carriers. Since the original iPhone launched back in 2007, AT&T has been somewhat of a goto carrier for iPhone buyers. And Sprint just became an official partner last Fall.

Still, to think that Apple is selling more handsets than multiple Android manufacturers, Windows Phone partners, and RIM combined, is absolutely insane. Especially when you consider that Apple has only been in the cell phone business for 5 years now.

Im going to try not to be an ass here but statistics like this are useless. Does anyone actually care…?

Lol fanboys need to be reassured from time to time that they have the best handset otherwise what’s the point lol!

How many iOS phone models Vs. Android/Windows/Blackberry phones? You got to admit, that’s a pretty daunting statistic, wether stats are useless or not.

You mean whether they’re real or not. And you have to stop trying to make it look like it’s iPhone vs the World. They all compete against each other, Apple has put in your head that iOS is the best and most advanced (in their words) OS ever, when that just hasn’t been proved.

I hate to break the news to you, but it really is iPhone Vs. the World.

Yup. iOS is very very far from being called most ADVANCED..

and @Chindavon, You do know that Samsung smartphones alone outsells all Apple iPhones right? geez, it’s just AT&T were talking about. On other countries like Philippines, no one buys an iPhone on carriers.. just way too expensive..

@Papapau, Do you pay attention to all the media outlets? Every company is gunning for Apple, because of their dominance. If you think releasing a new Samsung smartphone every other week is success then go right ahead. You get what you pay for. Enjoy your new Samsung Note with the unresponsive plastic stylus, or Galaxy S 20 or 30 or whatever number their at with that model. iPhone has three current models and has better lagg-less OS. THREE models Vs. The rest and dominating is all I have left to say.

No need for name calling my friend. Just backing the facts that are laid out as of today.

@chindavon Oh, and if iPhone OS is “lag-less” as you say, it’s most likely because it’s the most simple, basic and empty OS out there.

        Simple IS NOT advanced.

      • http://twitter.com/Chindavon Chindavon

@ maurid, it is lag-less as I say. Go to Best Buy. Take the new iPad for a test drive, then go to any and I mean ANY Android or other OS tablet and make a better judgment for yourself. It’s butta. iOS is easy to use, fast, and extremely user friendly. Looks simple to you, but under the hood, it’s got horses.
