Would you like to hear Siri speak in a British voice? Or perhaps you prefer a Thai accent? With AnyVoice, either of these, plus nearly 40 others are available for you to choose from.

AnyVoice is a upcoming jailbreak tweak that allows you to easily customize Siri’s accent. Be warned, though, some of the accents are much better sounding than others…

AnyVoice features the following accents:

  • Standard
  • Arabic
  • Czech
  • Danish
  • German
  • Greek
  • English (Australia)
  • English (United Kingdom)
  • English (Ireland)
  • English (United States)
  • English (South Africa)
  • Spanish
  • Spanish (Mexico)
  • Finnish
  • French (Canada)
  • French (France)
  • Hindi
  • Hungarian
  • Indonesian
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Dutch (Belgium)

  • Romanian

Some of the accents sound decent, while many of them are laughable or downright bad renditions. You be the judge. After watching the video, which accent is your favorite?

AnyVoice is currently still in development, but upon its release we’ll make a follow up post with the details on where you can get it.

What do you think?

  • where’s Malaysia? why it is not in the list 🙁

  • Sergio Avila

    LOL.

  • Where is Ghana? Please Jeff have the add Ghana please I’m begging!!

    • Jeff doesn’t make any tweaks

    • i like the ghanian accent. that would be a good one to add

  • i was expecting the hindi , not a indian accent 😛

  • Russian Yeeeeeee!!!!!!!

  • Where’s Peruvian? i like the french and the italian voice.

  • Anonymous

That would be really funny if the user has to say his questions with the accent, too 😉

  • I tought for a socond it was adding french canadian to siri its awsome that siri can talk french canadian but if i still have to talk france french to siri so she can understand.. this is bullshit ( siri not the tweak)

Dude, Siri is still only in beta. I am sure it will speak Canadian French eventually. ;o)

      • beta, really? whats your definition of beta. even though it’s officially shipped out to millions of people it’s still beta for you. interesting

      • Officially it’s in beta, that was said on Oct 4 2011, also on Apple’s Website is a “beta” appended to Siri…

      • Dan

        damn long beta

      • Dan

        damn long beta

    • How does Canadian French differ from france French?
And actually I just use Canadian French Voice, because it is a women talking instead of a men like in the normal French Siri xD

      • Dan

Canadian french (Ontario) is a different dialect than france french, a lot of different expressions and wording. We can understand each other but Siri won’t interpret the meaning if we speak Canadian french.

Then you have Quebec french which is like a backwater version of french (imagine the american redneck)… forget that for Siri.

Then you can add to the fact than in Canada you have people (like me) who make an effort to speak french properly, then you have others who mix in English words lol

Hopefully not long now until we get a HAL theme/voice!

    • my parents already been asking about how to get HAL on their iphones lol too funny!

  • Was refreshing cydia half way through the article until I read that its still in development D: Wonder what kind of eta we are looking at.

    • I submitted it already to ModMyi, so I hope it will be in Cydia in a few hours! (:

      • Can you add GLADoS as an accent?! (And Scottish)

        Thanks!

      • AnyVoice is already offering all voices available on iOS, AnyVoice depends on iOS’s Voice files, it doesn’t have it’s own.

  • Needs a Boston accent. That would be wicked awesome kehd!

  • Oh, screw all of that, I just want her to sound like GLaDOS.

  • Thai

  • Siv

What a big let down. They all sound like a robot with cold.

    • That’s because of Apple, all Voices in iOS are like this…

  • Hahaha can’t wait to have this

  • getting closer to GladOS…

  • Iwan van Zyl

The South African english sounds about right

  • I have SpeakEvent installed, I had to reboot evey time I choose a different language with AnyVoice in order to work well, also it is better to have the same language in SpeakEvent and AnyVoice in order to do not mix voices, and disable “detectlanguage” in SpeakEvent ( the author is working with de update).

  • Mine disabled the siri button when I tried to do the “lets chat” function with assistant extensions. Had to reboot. Anyone experience any problems with assistant extensions and anyvoice?

  • Tabby Williasmon

I came just for the Irish

  • You need to do a scouser voice aswell would be hillarious!!

  • Does this work in system ios 6.1.2 ?

  • When is this going to be available for download?

They aren’t really accents. They are just reading English text in each langauge’s voice-dictation voice. That’s why Czech screwed up on making the ch sound and that Italian accent failed to pronounce the letter y, because they are reading the English text as if it were Czech or Italian.
