Think You Have the Flu? There’s an App for That

Apps make our smartphones do amazing things. They can turn your iPhone into a price scanner, car parker, and even a tool to cure headaches. Now we’re going to take a look at one that can tell you if you’re sick or not.

The iTriage app for the iPhone is a complete digital first aid kit. After entering in your symptoms, the software gives you a possible diagnosis and treatment suggestions. And if that’s not enough, it can point you to the nearest doctor…

The home screen of iTriage is extremely straight forward. There are icons that take you to the Symptoms list, a list of nearby doctors and facilities, lists of medications and procedures, and a list of important phone numbers like the Poison Control Center.

The app’s interface is surprisingly intuitive. For example, the Symptoms icon opens up to a human body where you can simply point to the area that’s bothering you (tap head for headaches). It even lists more common symptoms first, which comes in handy.

Once you’ve zeroed in on a specific set of symptoms, the app lists a number of possible causes. Tapping on a diagnosis brings up an action menu that gives you a description of the ailment, common treatments for it, and even photos of what it looks like.

Keep in mind that this is just an app, and it should never be substituted for the opinion of a real doctor. But it’s one heck of an app, and combines a seemingly countless amount of valuable information into one place. Download iTriage for free in the App Store.
