Not five minutes after we posted the plist hack method for enabling panorama mode in iOS 5, the promised jailbreak tweak that does the same thing hit Cydia.

The tweak is titled ‘Firebreak’ in reference to the plist value, and it’s much simpler to use than editing a plist value via iFile.

If you want to use iOS 5’s hidden panoramic camera, then this is the definitive way to enable it…

Firebreak is a free jailbreak tweak available in Cydia’s BigBoss repo. It does require a jailbroken iOS 5 device with a built in gyroscope (iPhone 4, iPad 2, etc.).

Have  you tried panorama mode yet? Let us know what you think about it.

It won’t work on the iPad 2! There’s no jailbreak for the iPad 2 on iOS 5 yet.

  • It’s horrible. I tried it.

  • I tried it and honestly it SUCKS…. But then that is probably apple haven’t enabled it yet

  • I tried it and honestly it SUCKS!!!!! But then that is probably why Apple hasn’t enabled it in the stock firmware yet

      why does it suck?

Crashed when trying to save a panorama.

Then again, I only tried once.

It enabled it alright, but “keeping the arrow on the center line” does not move the marquee. It only works for me when the phone is actually moving. This does not make for a good panoramic picture. Definitely needs some work.

  • you will need a tripod to use this tweak

Yeah. I have no idea how to even use it. I know i know. Keep arrow on center line. All it really does is cut the frames into pieces, big or small depending on how fast you move the phone. It’s like you have to have serious skill to even get a good panoramic photo. I honestly can see millions of people downloading this tweak, then deleting it right away. There is a reason Crapple didn’t enable this yet. Maybe it needs more work.Oooooooor maybe that is just how it is. idk.

I tried it. Works okay but you really need to have a steady hand or you get overlaps. Anyway my question is: is there any app/program that I can use to view panorama pictures? So they aren’t just flat.
