$159 is cheap for you ?? Nice mod though I would love to have something like that on the next generation iPhone . There’s no point of having this mod on my iPhone 4 when I’m about to upgrade as soon as the next device drops !

    • Bob-o

“$159 is cheap for you ??” – I was thinking the same thing.

    • http://www.idownloadblog.com Alex

For this level of modification, yes, it is cheap. Way more complex than a color swap.

      • soccerkrzy

No, $50 is a reasonable price for this. The modding will mostly be done by the purchaser, so there’s no justification for $159. There’s no way it costs them more than $15-$20 to make these.

      • omar

i will buy iphone for 150 …….cheap lol this funny

    • http://facebook.com/Ehab.Ahmad.94 Ehab

Hahahahaha, I expected a Jailbroken app offered for money.. With that too, I thought I’m gonna have to look for the cracked app. 159$ LOL! I’d get another iPhone xD

    • http://facebook.com/askeric Eric

      I smell iDB give-a-way!!!! LOL (no, seriously….)

Anyways, I agree with Will – $159??? That ain’t cheap enough for me to spring the cash!!! But, hopefully Apple, Inc. will “steal” their idea and put it on the next gen iPhoneX???

Also, I could see the an adoption of the feature which has “mood” changing lights…. The apple logo light changes colors as my mood changes! There could be a color for each mood… “Depressed”, “Suicidal”, “Party!”, “Kill ‘em All”, “Alert! I’m Horny!!!” All kinds of colors for each mood.

      - Eric

  • Lupin

That is a sick mod but I plan on upgrading asap

  • James

100 quid to make the apple logo light up is far from cheap, it’s an unnecessary rip off tbh especially considering you don’t even see the back of the phone .. 100 nuggets just so other people can see it, balls to that.

  • Bill

Yes, us lemmings must stand in long likes for the iPhone 5. For me that mod is way too late.

  • Andrew

At more than half the cost most of us paid for the entire phone phone, I wouldn’t call it “cheap”. Not even relatively cheap.

It is pretty neat though. I’d bite at $50, but you have to be kidding at $159.

  • chuck

If I paid $160 for a BACK plate, I’d immediately want to protect it with a case…nice look, but I’ll pa$$ on this one.

  • http://twitter.com/jgns Jeremy

It used to cost less than $20 for me to do this to a Nextel back in the day.

  • numbnuts

Apple is a premium brand, this mod is priced as high as it is because they know fanboys will pay it. Like many I’m not stupid enough to use the device without a case therefore this ‘tweak’ is pointless.

    • Deathstar

No. A smart Fanboy will wait for someone to pay for it then ask to look at that person’s phone to see how it was done and what materials were used and then make a DYI out of it…WIN!

  • MALdito

I wanted to do this to the first gen iphone. On that model you could just remove the apple logo (it was a separate piece of metal), replace it with a thin piece of plastice or plexiglass, then wire an LED to the backlight power source (5v DC). This mod on the iphone 4 looks cool, but for the “cheap” price of $159 (REALLY Alex? (Ő_ő) ), I’d prefer to take the risk and just do it myself.

    • ic0edx

I’m with you, give it a month after they release it some will find a cheaper way to do this.

      • MALdito

As soon as I get and iphone 4 I know I will. I’m sure I can fit one or more SMD LED’s inside and then light that sucker up!

  • http://bon.com white man

    cool but too much money

  • Daniel

Way too much many for quite an unnoticeable mod!

  • subb

$159 for less than an hours’ work? not bad

  • Pete

Yuck, that was lame, @Alex. How much did they pay you to call this cheap? Or you’re srsly becoming a snob.

  • subb

sorry, I mean an hour’s work

  • bearmon2010

I think idownloadblog is a drama. It is not cheap for $159. They are saying it out of positive and encourage people like you to buy it. I am not stupid so no thanks.

  • Soto

This is awesome. I’m a military vet so I wouldn’t mind forking the money to have this mod on an iPhone 5.

  • Chewy

Useless. When do ‘I’ ever look at the back of my i4? 1 outta 100 times.

  • XepptizZ

It’s a cool mod for 50 and a stupid one for anything above 80.

  • Geoffito

100 quid for a gimmick… Ouch! No thanks.
You only have to look at their website to see what a rip off this company is with it’s very high prices…

  • prplaya420

boring, it be nice if it was like a small screen mod or something

  • prplaya420

and i bet it drains battery like crazy too

another method to drown your batt~ -_-

  • LearnToReadNoob

Before you start complaining about battery issues etc, learn to read.

What iPatch can confirm and to also help answer many of the questions we are constantly receiving is that:

It has had no noticable drop in battery performance in day to day use
It does not cause any heating of the rear case
The light goes off when the screen goes off. This means it will not glow when you are on a normal call and have the phone to your ear or have the phone on standby
The light effect is an evenly distributed glow, much like the apple symbol on the rear of a macbook lid
It does illuminate when you receive a text or call, or when your alarm sounds
It does not cause any change in thickness to the phone or result in any light leakage around the frame
The glass plate used is that from a standard iPhone 4 and is, therefore, available in black and white (or even custom colours if required)
The colour of the apple logo can be changed by applying a colour filter and its intensity can be reduced by reducing the front LCD brightness. There are other, currently classified, mods that may be possible too depending on testing. Currently, when the light is off, the apple has a frosted glass appearance but this may change to reflective silver, if possible, to maintain the original look of the iPhone
The camera function is completely unaffected either with or without flash
Plans are to release an export franchise kit which will be available to trained repairers abroad. It is by no means simple to replicate and would not be advisable to attempt without the expertise and knowledge of how the iPhone functions at a circuitry level. Details of how to participate will be released in the future
It will void any warranty with apple but the modification is fully reversible, returning the iPhone exactly back to how it was (at a smaller additional cost)
It will come with iPatch’s standard 90 day warranty so if anything goes wrong, you are covered
International orders are welcomed although please be aware of the delivery scale and costs
    It looks, quite frankly, awesome!

  • Max

I’m in as soon as it comes out IF the iPhone 5 is not announced.

  • Ryan

    Priced at £100 ($159) … It’s cheap … bullshit.

  • Li

There are some cases that shows apple logo in the back…. But I think it’s too much in price too….. Because it feels like just a bolt of led light and a wire… Just don’t know where to get power from….
