‘Black Keyboard’ Allows You to Use the iPhone’s Black Lockscreen Keyboard Anywhere

If you've ever disabled your iPhone's "Simple Passcode" in the Passcode Lock section of the Settings.app, then you're no doubt familiar with the black keyboard that's hidden within iOS.

Most of the folks I know stick to the simple numeric passcode as a means to protect their iPhones, thus they're not aware that a black keyboard even exists.

The sad news is that besides the lock screen, you're unable to use the black keyboard anywhere else; that is, until now.

Black Keyboard is a new jailbreak tweak available for the iPhone that allows you to enable the elusive black keyboard anywhere...

True HD Enables Your iPhone 4 to Upload 720P Videos to YouTube

If you have ever uploaded a video to Facebook or YouTube from your iPhone 4, you might have noticed a drop in video quality. No, it isn't poor lighting, the resolution and frame rate are actually lowered. This is because a reduced quality video is produced before uploading, to save on internet bandwidth usage.

A 1280 x 720 video, 9 minutes in length, is about 700 MB natively. When trying to upload a video to YouTube or Twitter, the file size gets reduced to less than half that. To get full HD quality, you would typically need to transfer video from your iPhone to your computer and upload from there, but not with True HD...

‘AppSize’ Spills the Beans About Your iPhone App’s Age and Weight

If apps were women, they would loathe AppSize -- a new jailbreak tweak that tells how much your apps weigh (size) and how old they are (installation date).

Fortunately, most of the apps I meet don't care about this sort of thing.

AppSize is a free jailbreak tweak that's available on Cydia for jailbroken iPhones, and it can be fairly handy for those of you with extremely tight restrictions on space.

What type of restrictions are we talking about? Check inside for more details...

‘Pull To Sync for Reeder’ Adds Twitter Like Refreshing to Your iPhone’s Reeder App

Tired of tapping that dreaded refresh button whenever you want an update to the latest happenings in your Reeder app?

Fret no longer; the perfect jailbreak tweak for you has arrived in the form of Pull To Sync for Reeder.

As its name implies so accurately, Pull To Sync for Reeder throws an additional syncing/refreshing option into the mix for your favorite Google Reader client.

Now instead of solely relying on that little refresh button in the bottom right-hand corner, you can let your thumbs do the talking with pull down to refresh capabilities...

‘Multitasktures’ is a Jailbreak Tweak Alternative to iOS Multi-Touch Gestures

Are you still having issues using one of the previously covered methods of enabling multi-touch gestures on your iPhone running iOS 4.3.1?

If so, Multitasktures might very well be a compromise that you're willing to make.

While it's not technically using real multi-touch gestures to enable paging left or right between your apps, it does use Activator to achieve similar results....

App Picks of the Week: NoSpot, Grades, Witness

Every week, we select a few apps that catch our eye. These apps can be from the App Store, web apps, or jailbreak apps.

This week, we have a nifty jailbreak tweak for disabling Spotlight, an App Store app, and another iOS companion app for the Mac. Hope you enjoy this week's picks!

‘MT Gestures’ is an Easy Way to Add Multi-Touch Gestures to iPhones Running iOS 4.3.1

Well perhaps I should have restated that. MT Gestures will (hopefully soon) be an easy way to add multi-touch gestures to your iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.1. That's because the developer, although they tout iPhone 4 compatibility within Cydia alongside the iPod touch G4, has admitted that the iPhone 4 compatibility isn't exactly working yet.

I can attest to this assertion, it isn't working yet. But I will say that it has plenty of promise for those of you who shy away from manually editing .plist files in order to enable multi-touch gestures on your iPhone 4.

What is working, however, is the new iPad-esque mute switch assignment options in the Settings.app. That's a pretty decent consolation prize while we wait for the developer to iron the bugs out for iPhone compatibility...

iQuickCall Allows You to Quickly Call, Text, or E-Mail with Activator

iQuickCall is a jailbreak tweak that allows you quick access to the number you call everyday. Using the gesture options built into Activator, iQuickCall gives you several methods for quickly prompting the option to call/text/e-mail someone from anywhere on your screen.

There are apps in the App Store that try to solve the issue of quick contact reference in iOS, but iQuickCall uses the system access benefits that jailbreaking provides for a more integrated approach...

Create Custom Badges For Apps with AppTag

Another day, another new jailbreak tweak released in Cydia. The latest jailbreak tweak is called, AppTag.

You know the little "badges" on applications on the home screen that notify you with the amount of new notifications you have? Well, AppTag is a cool new tweak that will allow you to create custom badges on your iDevice without the use of a computer.

‘ManualCorrect Pro’ Adds More Options to Maneuver Around Auto Correct’s Blunders

Oh auto correct, how we all do loathe thee.

A couple of months ago I walked you through a jailbreak tweak entitled ManualCorrect -- a tweak that aimed to tame the iPhone's native auto correct and make it functional.

The tweak was met by rave reviews by yours truly, and even garnered a few votes on Nick's Top Five Jailbreak Apps post.

Now a new version of the tweak -- ManualCorrect Pro -- has been unveiled that seeks to further subdue the iPhone's nefarious auto correction; but is it worth paying for?

Dock 2.0 Gives You One Touch Access to All of Your Apps

If someone were to ask you why they should jailbreak their iPhone, what would you say? For me, the list of reasons could go on for days. The themes, the tweaks, it seems like there are a million ways to customize your iPhone once it's been set free. These tweaks can remove Apple's limitations on things like the amount of sprin gboard pages you can have, or the amount of icons allowed in each folder.

The coolest hacks, in my opinion, are the ones that make multi-step processes on your iPhone less complicated. Don't get me wrong, iOS is so simple a 2 year old could use it. But there are apps like SBSettings that will give you home screen access to settings for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Dock 2.0 also falls in this category, as it makes browsing multiple pages for applications a thing of the past...
