Sileo v1.0.1 released to fix package archive fetching failures

The Sileo Team on Wednesday released a minor update for the Sileo package manager that comes bundled with the Electra Team’s Chimera and Electra jailbreak tools, bringing the app up from version 1.0 to version 1.0.1.

The Sileo Team announced the update just this morning via Twitter, noting that it would resolve a problem where certain packages would display ‘failed to fetch archives’ messages:

Electra Team releases Chimera jailbreak for iOS 12.0-12.1.2 with support for A12(X) and Sileo

The Electra Team has spent the past few weeks hyping up its Electra12 jailbreak for iOS 12.0-12.1.2, and as it would seem, the wait is finally over as of Monday night.

Say hello to Chimera, an entirely new jailbreak tool developed and released by the CoolStar-led Electra Team with native support for all iOS 12.0-12.1.2 devices, including the pesky A12(X) variety.

Ryan Petrich updates Activator and other vital tweak dependencies with arm64e support & more

Well-known jailbreak tweak developer Ryan Petrich made an elusive appearance in Cydia over the weekend as he updated a plethora of vital dependencies with preliminary support for arm64e devices.

Petrich maintains some of the jailbreak community’s highest-profile dependencies, including Activator, AppList, PreferenceLoader, and RocketBoostrap, among others. Many of these were included in this past weekend’s update burst.

If you have a jailbroken iOS 11 or iOS 12 device in your possession and you're wondering what you should install on it to make it better, then you've come to the right place.

In this roundup, we’ll summarize each of this week’s new jailbreak tweak releases from Monday, April 22nd to Sunday, April 28th. As usual, we’ll kick things off by discussing our favorites and then outline the rest afterward.

Pwn20wnd confirmed to be working on Substitute for A12(X) devices with unc0ver

Just last week, Saurik advised the jailbreak community not to hold its breath for an A12(X)-compatible Cydia Substrate, but that doesn’t mean that team unc0ver won’t release a full A12(X)-compatible jailbreak; in fact, the contrary appears to be true.

In the absence of Cydia Substrate on A12(X) platforms and with little or no indication that it’ll ever be updated to support them, hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd embarked on a new challenge – one that involves implementing an improved Substitute for A12(X) handsets specifically while continuing to use Cydia Substrate for tweak injection on pre-A12(X) devices.

Pwn20wnd defends Cydia as Sileo Team teases the upcoming release of Sileo 1.0

Hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd shared some reassuring comments with the jailbreak community via Twitter Thursday afternoon, elucidating that Cydia as a package manager wasn’t dead and that third-party developers besides Saurik (such as team unc0ver’s Sam Bingner) can still maintain it.

If you didn’t already know, the Cydia package manager is open source, which means that anyone can view its source code and update the software so long as they adhere to the license:

Unc0ver v3.0.1 released with important stability fix & more

The unc0ver jailbreak tool for iOS 11.0-12.1.2 was updated on Tuesday to version 3.0.1 as an incremental update from the previous release, which spent several months evolving over the course of 50-something beta updates.

Pwn20wnd announced the update via Twitter Tuesday afternoon, noting that unc0ver v3.0.1 contained important bug fixes in addition to miscellaneous improvements:

Saurik to jailbreak community on A12(X) Cydia Substrate ETAs: ‘Knock it off’

If you’ve been following the jailbreak community as closely as I have recently, then you’ve undoubtedly witnessed a lot of denigration between Cydia Substrate naysayers and Substitute naysayers. Some are fed up in waiting for Cydia Substrate to be updated with A12(X) support, prompting many to harass Saurik for a release date and motivating others to take a different approach to jailbreaking entirely.

In response to much of this mud-slinging and toxicity, Saurik took to Twitter Friday morning to bend the jailbreak community over his knee and give it a good spanking. It’s not very often that Saurik makes a public appearance on Twitter, but when he does, it’s almost always a home run:

Pwn20wnd releases unc0ver v3.0.0 beta 50 with numerous bug fixes and new features

Hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd dropped an unexpected update for his jailbreak tool on Monday, bringing it up to version 3.0.0 beta 50 with a plethora of new bug fixes and additional options when jailbreaking your handset.

Pwn20wnd announced the arrival of the new update via Twitter just this afternoon, posting a link to the download page on his official GitHub repository:

Pwn20wnd says Saurik plans to update Cydia Substrate for A12(X) devices

Pwn20wnd’s unc0ver jailbreak tool supports all versions of iOS from 11.0-12.1.2, and it supports most iOS devices. The lone exception to the latter part of that statement is that A12(X) devices are only partially supported, which means Cydia and Cydia Substrate won’t be installed on those handsets (yet).

Just last week, Pwn20wnd shared what he still needed to complete the full A12(X) support for unc0ver, and while one of those components has since been completed, the community continues to wait for the other.
