OS X 10.11.5

Apple releases OS X 10.11.5, watchOS 2.2.1 and tvOS 9.2.1

In addition to iOS 9.3.2, Apple on Monday released OS X 10.11.5, watchOS 2.2.1 and tvOS 9.2.1 to the public. You can find the updates in the Mac App Store, in the iOS Watch app, and by navigating to Settings > System > Software Updates > Update Software on your fourth generation Apple TV.

From what we saw in the various developer and public betas for the above updates, none of them are going to include any significant user-facing changes. They're mostly maintenance releases, featuring bug fixes and other improvements aimed at ironing issues noticed in previous software versions.

Apple seeds new betas of iOS, tvOS and OS X

Apple on Tuesday seeded brand new betas of the iOS, tvOS and OS X operating systems to members of the Apple Developer Program. iOS 9.3.2 beta 4 (build 13F68), tvOS 9.2.1 beta 4 (build 13Y772) and OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 beta 4 are all available for download on devices running earlier betas. Standalone installers can be downloaded through Apple's Dev Center for developers and are also available for public testing for members of the Apple Beta Software Program.

New betas: iOS 9.3.2 (public only), tvOS 9.2.1 (dev only) and El Capitan 10.11.5 (dev+public)

Just 24 hours after iOS 9.3.2 beta 3 released to Apple's registered developers, the Cupertino company on Wednesday made the software available to public beta testers who are signed up for the Apple Beta Software Program. In addition, Apple posted new betas of tvOS 9.2.1 and OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 for members of its Apple Developer Program.

The new tvOS 9.2.1 beta 3 (build 13Y768) and OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 beta 3 (build 15F28b) can be obtained via Apple's portal for developers.

Second betas of iOS 9.3.2 and OS X 10.11.5 now available to public testers

Apple today seeded the second betas of upcoming iOS and OS X updates to public testers. Folks in the Beta Software Program can now install iOS 9.3.2 via OTA on their iOS devices, and OS X 10.11.5 via the App Store Software Update mechanism.

These are the same betas that Apple pushed out to developers yesterday, along with updates for watchOS and tvOS. They arrive about a month after the public releases of iOS 9.3 and OS X 10.11.4, which brought about several user-facing changes.

New watchOS 2.2.1 and OS X 10.11.5 betas have dropped, too

After seeding iOS 9.3.2 beta 2 to its registered developers this morning, Apple has also released new betas for its other forthcoming operating system updates: watchOS 2.2.1 and OS X 10.11.5 El Capitan. You can download watchOS 2.2.1 beta 2 (build 13V420) and OS X 10.11.5 beta 2 (build 15F24b) through Apple's Developer Center, which requires a paid account for full access, or apply them on the devices themselves through the Software Update mechanism on devices running a beta OS.

First betas of iOS 9.3.2 and OS X 10.11.5 now available to public testers

Apple today seed the first betas of upcoming iOS and OS X updates to public testers.

They arrive two weeks after the public releases of iOS 9.3 and OS X 10.11.4, which brought about several user-facing changes.

OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 beta 1 also seeded to developers

Just over two weeks after posting OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 for public consumption, Apple this morning seeded the first beta of OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 to its registered developers. A fifth major update to the the most recent operating system powering the Mac, OS X 10.11.5 includes bug fixes, performance improvements and general security and stability fixes.

It is not expected to bring any major user-facing features. The new beta carries a build number of 15F18b and can be installed on computers running a prior OS X beta through the Mac App Store's Updates tab.
