Jailbreakers in Front of the Line at WWDC

Jailbreakers are representing right now at the doors of Moscone Center, for the WWDC 2011. Yesterday night, Saurik was spotted waiting in line to secure a seat during the keynote, and this morning, 9to5Mac did a short video interview with him.

Saurik was asked why there are so many jailbreakers waiting in line for the WWDC. Watch the video to find out his answer...

Saurik Spotted in Line at WWDC

Well, well, well... look who we have here. Could that be the father of jailbreaking himself, Jay "saurik" Freeman, sitting in line for Apple's World Wide Develepors Conference?

Yes, that is saurik. Freeman is apparently in attendance for Apple's developer conference this week, and he's already in line at The Moscone Center. First Peter Hajas gets hired by Apple, now this? Pretty soon we'll see Steve Jobs talk about jailbreaking during a keynote...

Our Expectations for WWDC 2011

On the eve of the 2011 World Wide Developers Conference, magic is in the air. The Apple rumor mill has been churning, and Mac OS X Lion, iOS 5 and iCloud are all confirmed topics of discussion for tomorrow's keynote. Steve Jobs himself will be presenting, and the industry eagerly awaits to see how Apple will revolutionize the market.

The iDB team has prepared a Q&A-style roundtable discussion with each of our opinions on what we expect from the WWDC keynote tomorrow. Read each of our thoughts and comments after the break!

Jailbreak Notifications Developer Now An Apple Employee

Peter Hajas, the lead developer of the popular jailbreak notifications replacement, MobileNotifier, is now an Apple "iOS Apps and Frameworks" employee. We originally speculated that Hajas was working for Apple when he announced that he was leaving as the head of the MobileNotifier development team, and it has now been confirmed that Apple has hired Peter Hajas to work on iOS.

iOS 5 will be unveiled at WWDC on Monday, and Apple could introduce a new system of push notifications. It's unlikely that any of Peter's work will be seen in iOS 5. He is most likely working on a future update to Apple's mobile software...

iH8sn0w Announces iFaith SHSH Blob Dumping Tool

SHSH blobs, despite the slightly comical name are extremely important in the world of iOS jailbreaking. See, the problem with jailbreaking iOS devices is every once in a while you might need to revert to an old firmware version, something Apple isn't too keen on.

When attempting to flash an iDevice with a firmware other than the most current one, iTunes will contact Apple's servers for authentication and because your version of iOS is older than the one currently installed, the server refuses.

Luckily this can be gotten around as with so many things in tech - and this is where SHSH blobs come in, along with a new tool by hacking friend iH8sn0w called iFaith...

Introducing TweakWeek, One Jailbreak Tweak a Day for 7 Days

Here is an awesome initiative by Ryan Petrich, one of my favorite jailbreak developers. Ryan recently launched TweakWeek, a challenge where he is going to release one open source jailbreak tweak a day for an entire week.

Even better, a few other jailbreak developers are already lined up for the next few weeks. While Petrich is going to develop one tweak a day this week, next week tweaks will be developed by Filippo Bigarella, the following week by Tyler Nettleton, etc...

iOS Hacker i0n1c Teases iPad 2 Jailbreak

You might remember about a month ago when iOS hacker i0n1c sent a cryptic tweet about an "elevator," which made it sound like it was related to an iPad 2 jailbreak. Everyone got excited and many people believed that "elevator" would be the first iPad 2 jailbreak.

Then i0n1c denied the fact that he had an iPad 2 jailbreak but he kept on cultivating this rumor by tweeting several times about the mysterious elevator. I really thought i0n1c was over this, but today he tweeted about his new website elevat0r.com...

KeyVibrate – Native Haptic Feedback Anyone?

Though the iPhone's virtual keyboard has been named one of the best in the business, it still lacks a fairly major feature: haptic feedback. The little vibration that lets you know a key has been pressed is on nearly every other touchscreen smartphone on the market, but not the iPhone.

Luckily we have the jailbreak community to produce apps and tweaks that makeup for iOS shortcomings. Though there have been haptic feedback utilities in Cydia for quite some time now, they've never really impressed me. They always seemed to make iOS slower and less reliable, until now...

F0recast Gets an Update, Still Tells You if You Can Jailbreak and Unlock

We've talked about f0recast before, a tool that allows you to figure out if you can jailbreak, and unlock your iPhone. iH8Sn0w, the developer of f0recast, just released an update to the tool, bringing it to version 1.3.

Although no new features were added in this version, f0recast has been updated with the recent jailbreak situations in order to give you an accurate assessment of your unlocking/jailbreaking ability...

iPad 2 Jailbreak to Be Released in 3 Weeks? [Updated]

Here is an interesting piece of news for iPad 2 owners out there. According to iPhone hacker Veeence, the Chronic Dev Team is just 3 weeks away from being done with their new jailbreak, which will most likely work with the iPad 2 as well.

It was only last week that the Chronic Dev Team posted an update on their blog asking us to not bug them about the iPad 2 jailbreak, and here you have Veeence throwing a little more oil on the fire...

Sn0wBreeze Developer to Announce Mystery Project this Week

It appears that jailbreak developer iH8sn0w has been causing some commotion in the Twitter world over the weekend. The 16 year-old iPhone hacker has made quite a name for himself in the community over the past few years, and it doesn't look like he's slowing down anytime soon.

The Toronto-native has been advertising on the popular social site that he is going to unveil an all new, never-before-seen -- well, we're not sure. Whatever it is though, the young hacker seems to be pretty excited about it...
