CES 2015: Incipio’s new Prompt Folio iPad case has a built-in display for notifications

Incipio announced a unique new case for Apple's iPad Air tablet at the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas today. The case, which it's calling the Prompt Notification Folio, features a built-in OLED screen for discreetly delivering notifications from a connected device.

The Folio connects to "most smart devices" using Bluetooth Low Energy, and is capable of displaying incoming phone calls, emails, text messages, calendar appointments, low battery alerts, and more. Battery life for the case falls between 7-10 days per complete charge.

Apple Watch set to launch in March, says new report

Apple is planning to launch its Apple Watch within the next month or two, according to a new report from 9to5Mac. The site's Mark Gurman says that the company is finishing up work on the wearable's software, and sources familiar with the project say it's on track to begin shipping in the US by the end of March.

CES 2015: Mophie out with Juice Pack battery cases for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

Renowned accessory maker Mophie is out of the gate with the first 'Made for iPhone' licensed battery cases for Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Their new Juice Pack protective battery cases promise to boost the run time of your iPhone 6 by 120 percent, or up to sixty percent in the case of the larger iPhone 6 Plus which already packs a notably stronger battery than its 4.7-inch sibling.

The California-based company said the new cases for Apple's last handsets are now available for pre-order.

Google Hangouts gains smart location sharing, statuses, deeper Voice integration and more

Google on Tuesday added new features to its Hangouts app for the iPhone and iPad, namely deeper integration with its Voice telephony service, a pretty smart way to share your location with others, the ability to tell your friends what you're up to via status messages and more.

Today's refresh follows last month's Android app update which introduced a similar set of enhancements. These newly introduced features are available on iOS right now so go ahead and download Hangouts free in the App Store and take the app for a spin.

CES 2015: a true wireless charging system beams power to gadgets from 20 feet away

At CES, Energous presented a true wireless charging system that beams power to devices through the air, from 20 feet away, Engadget reported.

They're calling it WattUp and it uses a proprietary solution that got demoed at CES yesterday.

The technology is ready for seamless integration into a common residential setting, providing the ability to charge a multitude of devices free of any wired connection or charging pad.

Apple now offering SIM-free iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models in the US starting at $649

As expected, Apple has begun offering SIM-free models of its new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus handsets in the United States this morning. The company unveiled the two devices in early September, and launched carrier versions of them later that month for Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile.

Pricing for the new unlocked iPhones falls in line with Apple's past behaviors, with the 16GB model of the iPhone 6 starting at $649 and each storage tier jump adding an additional $100. The larger iPhone 6 Plus also adds $100 for each tier, so the 128GB model will cost you $949.

EA posts new trailer for upcoming game ‘Need for Speed: No Limits’

EA mobile today posted what it is calling the "Official Gameplay Teaser" for its upcoming Need for Speed: No Limits title. Like the previous teaser, it runs about 30 seconds long, but this time there's a lot more in-game footage, and a lot less Ken Block.

Unsurprisingly, the new Need for Speed is being built by Firemonkeys, the combined teams of Firemint and IronMonkey Studios, who both have extensive backgrounds in racing. The game will have a heavy focus on street racing and vehicle customization.

Apple’s ‘Start Something New’ campaign extends to Apple Store walls

Apple has extended its "Start Something New" campaign, to highlight art and photography created on the iPhone and iPad, past the web and into its retail stores.

Twitter user Storeteller noted on Friday that the Regent Street Apple Store in London began displaying the art Apple began showing on the "Start Something New" webpage earlier this week.

Montblanc debuts new ‘e-Strap’ smart band for traditional watches

Luxury brand Montblanc has announced its first foray into the booming wearables market with the 'e-Strap'. The German company, which is known for making fine pens, watches and other jewelry, hopes the accessory will allow traditional mechanical watches and wearable tech to co-exist.

The e-Strap is an Italian leather watch band that features an embedded tracker with a tiny 0.9-inch monochromatic OLED touchscreen display (128x36). That display is capable of showing activity-tracking data and a variety of push notifications from a connected iPhone, or similar device.
