Latest New Yorker cover illustrated using iPad Pro and Apple Pencil

The latest cover of the popular New Yorker magazine was drawn on an iPad. The artist, Jorge Colombo, used an iPad Pro, an Apple Pencil stylus and the app Procreate to sketch the image for the New Yorker's cover story "Waterways."

Colombo says that he likes to work at the local café, library, or the Staten Island ferry. "The ferry is a great place to work: there’s the smell of the water, and late at night there aren’t many people. It’s like being in a grand hotel lobby."

Jailbreak tweaks of the week: CCLowPower, CCRecord, Evanesco, & more…

We were in a lull for quite a while, but the jailbreak community seems to be making a comeback as of late, especially in the midst of a jailbreak for iOS 10.1.1 by Luca Todesco, which is currently in beta.

This week, there have been a number of jailbreak tweak releases, and we'll be rounding them all up for you as we always do on Sunday. We'll start with our favorites, and then talk about the rest afterwards.

ForceInPicture enables Picture in Picture mode on unsupported devices

Picture in Picture mode is a type of multitasking that was introduced with iOS 9 so you could complete other tasks while simultaneously watching video. Unfortunately those with iPhones, iPod touches, and even some models of iPad can’t use it because it's restricted to certain models of iPad only.

A new jailbreak tweak called ForceInPicture is now available in Cydia that will enable Picture in Picture mode on all unsupported devices, so long as you’re running iOS 9 or iOS 10 on them.

Picky, Dashpop, Timebomb Messenger, and other apps to check out this weekend

Happy holidays everyone! It's been kind of a slow week in terms of news and app releases, but don't worry, we were still able to put together a solid list of apps and games for you to check out this weekend. The roundup includes an app that uses AI to pick out your best photos, a new todo list app with a fun twist, and a messaging client that lets you decide when your messages can be opened.

Reminisce more efficiently with ‘Show Photos from this Day’ in iOS

The holidays are a natural time to sit down with friends or loved ones and flip through all of your photos ad nauseam. iDB features help and guides aplenty for confident navigation of the Camera and Photos app, however one little trick has managed to fly under the radar for many, albeit its capability to save you valuable time when browsing your compendium of years and years of photos.

The tutorial below will teach you how to ask your iPhone or iPad to show you all remaining photos captured on the same day the footage you were initially looking at has been taken. In simpler words, say you are laughing at a vacation video taken at the pool and want to reminisce what else went on that day - here is what you should do instead of going back to your collection and painstakingly scanning your catalogue for that day.

StatusFolder displays the Status Bar even when you’re in a folder

Just yesterday we showed you a tweak that brought the Status Bar to the App Switcher on jailbroken iOS 10 devices, and if you’ve gotten used to seeing it there already, you probably wish you could see it in your folders too.

A newly released jailbreak tweak in Cydia called StatusFolder adds the Status Bar to the iOS folder interface whenever you’re peering inside folders to search through the apps within them.

Cuttlefish tints 3D Touch menu backgrounds on the Home screen to match the app color

Those who use 3D Touch to access the Home screen menu shortcuts from application icons know its usefulness for getting to specific app actions quickly. On the other hand, all of the 3D Touch Home screen menus are pretty bland, and no matter what app you use the 3D Touch gesture on, the menu is always the same color.

A new free jailbreak tweak called Cuttlefish aims to change that by dynamically colorizing the menu background blur to match the dominant color of the application icon you’re using the 3D Touch gesture on.

StatusSwitcher brings the Status Bar to the App Switcher

Luca Todesco’s jailbreak for iOS 10.1.1 is now in beta, and jailbreak tweak developers have started jumping on the train early to begin releasing tweaks for the updated software.

One of the first is a new free jailbreak tweak called StatusSwitcher, which adds the Status Bar to the App Switcher on iOS 10 devices.

Friendly Run event launches in Super Mario Run, earn Rally Tickets no matter if you win or lose

After launching a new Friendly Run mode in Super Mario Run six days ago, Nintendo today announced a limited-time Friendly Run event that gives you a little bonus for playing Friendly Run. No matter if you win or lose, playing Friendly Run during the event earns you some free Rally Tickets.

The event is running from December 27, 2016 8:00am to January 11, 2017 07:59am.

Jailbreak tweaks of the week: SnapchatNoClickbait, TwitterThemeToggler, & more…

We've gone a long time without a jailbreak on Apple's latest firmware (iOS 10), but there's a chance we might be out of the dark tunnel, as iOS hacker Luca Todesco has launched a beta jailbreak with support for a limited set of devices on iOS 10.1.1. Obviously, we don't recommend using it yet until it's stabilized, but it's a start!

Regardless, those who are already jailbroken know that there were a small number of jailbreak tweak releases this week, and this roundup will put the spotlight on those. We'll show you our favorites first, and then move on to the rest afterwards.
