Verizon CEO Says Apple LTE Products Coming Soon

Following Verizon Wireless CEO, Dan Mead's remarks regarding the short lines on Verizon's iPhone 4 launch day, Mead also indicated that Apple will eventually offer mobile products that can use Verizon's Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G network.

This lines up perfectly with the speculation earlier this month that Apple was working on an LTE iPhone...

iOS 5 to Be Shown Off at March 2nd Event As Well?

With Apple's iPad 2 event officially kicking off next week, the folks over at Engadget have been tipped additional details regarding the event.

According to Engadget, not only will Apple announce the iPad 2, it will also preview iOS 5 at the media event, which will be held Wednesday, March 2nd, at the famous Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco...

How Will the iPad 2 Be Named?

We've been talking about the iPad 2 for while now, or at least we've heard rumors about it, but there's one thing we haven't speculated about: it's name. We all call it iPad 2 but do you really think Apple didn't come up with something a little more original for such a flagship product?

Early reports and leaks claim that the iPad 2 will be much thinner. Could it then be named "iPad Air"? If I had to take a guess, I'd say the name of the iPad 2 will actually be "iPad II". It's pronounced the same but it's spelled differently.

What do you think? Can you predict the name of the iPad 2?

Apple Getting Ready for iPad 2 Announcement

Apple is working on prettying up San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center where it will unveil the iPad 2 next Wednesday. These pictures from 9to5Mac show the banners being hung on the walls.

Besides introducing the iPad 2, Apple will most likely release iOS 4.3, give us a sneak peak at iOS 5, and maybe give us an update about the mythical white iPhone 4.

Patent News: A Peek At E-Wallet Icon and Photo Booth for the iPhone

In the latest Apple patent news, two recently awarded patents have revealed future plans for the iPhone. Apple appears to be working on some sort of "e-Wallet" application. It also seems that the "Photo Booth" application from Mac OS X will be coming to iOS.

Some type of Apple-designed mobile payment app corroborates the rumors that NFC technology will be implemented into the iPhone 5. When the iOS 4.3 beta was released, 9to5 Mac found two Photo Booth-related frameworks in the firmware. This new Photo Booth patent only affirms that we will in fact be able to use the dorky filters that Photo Booth has to offer on our iPhones.

Apple iPad Event to Take Place on March 2nd

Apple will be holding a press event next week at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Fransisco. The event is supposed to be focused on the iPad 2.

There have been reports that Apple's iPad announcement would be delayed, but multiple sources (including Apple) have recently confirmed that Apple will in fact hold an event next Wednesday.

Not much information has been leaked about the approaching Apple event besides specs for the next version of the iPad. Apple might update iOS as well, but there is no hard evidence to support that claim.

iPad 2 to Be Unveiled on March 2

We've heard our fair share of iPad 2 rumors lately, the craziest one being that its release was going to be postponed until June.

Today comes another rumor that I believe to be true. Kara Swisher, one of my least favorite tech writers, announced today on her blog that it seemed clear Apple would announce the iPad next week in San Francisco.

According to several sources close to the situation, the Wednesday date in a little more than a week is firm and will take place in San Francisco, the scene of many such Apple events.

Steve Jobs currently being on a leave of absence, I doubt he will be introducing the new iPad.

iOS 4.3 Coming Very Soon, In-App Subscriptions, Personal Hotspot, and the iPad 2

All signs have been pointing to Apple releasing iOS 4.3 in the very near future, with speculation that Apple's 4.3 announcement could even come next week. Most speculation is centering on an Apple announcement taking place within the next 10 days.

Besides an iOS 4.3 announcement, Apple is rumored to be announcing the iPad 2, the Verizon iPhone's "Personal Hotspot" feature on AT&T, and an official release of in-app subscriptions.

Whether or not all of the speculation is accurate, it's evident that Apple will be holding an event in the near future...
