Apple posts iOS 10.1.1 with build number “14B150”

A little more than a week following the public release of iOS 10.1.1 with bug fixes for Health data, Apple on Wednesday published a slightly revised build of the software update.

The Cupertino company admittedly has a good reason for replacing the existing iOS 10.1.1 installer on its servers with another one that shows a slightly bumped up build number.

We'll update the article when we learn more.

The new build of iOS 10.1.1 arrived two days after iOS 10.2 beta 2 was seeded to developers and less than 24 hours after its accompanying public beta launched.

iOS 10.2 brings Emergency SOS feature from the Apple Watch to your iPhone

The potentially life-saving Emergency SOS feature which debuted on the Apple Watch with the release of watchOS 3 this fall is coming soon to your iPhone via a forthcoming iOS 10.2 software update. As my colleague Cody pointed out, Emergency SOS is now available on an iPhone with iOS 10.2 beta 2. Here's a quick overview of Emergency SOS on the iPhone, how it's invoked and what happens when you use it.

PasswordRecovery stores passwords and recovers them when you forget them

It can be a pain to remember all your passwords, and that's why password manager apps like 1Password exist. But if you don't like the big price tag or the subscription models, then PasswordRecovery is a jailbreak tweak alternative you could check out instead.

This tweak comes with password remembrance and recovery options all in a single package so you'll never forget your passcode or have to reset a password for any of its supported apps ever again.

NCTextColor lets you add vibrancy to Notification Center

Notification Center always has white text by default, but with a new free jailbreak tweak called NCTextColor, you can mix things up a little bit with some of your own favorite colors and settings.

This tweak works great for anyone who themes their iPhone and wants Notification Center's colors to better compliment the theme they're using, but you don't have to be a theme user to love what you can do with this tweak.

iOS 10.2 beta 2 now available to public beta testers

If you're enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program, you can now download a second beta of iOS 10.2 to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Apple yesterday released iOS 10.2 beta 2 to members of the Apple Developer Program and now the software is available to public beta testers, too. In addition to this new public beta, Apple also seeded macOS Sierra 10.12.2 beta 2 to registered developers today.

The Trail is a beautiful jaunt in the palm of your hand

In gaming circles, the mentioning of Peter Molyneux’s name alone will cue plenty of associations. The Brit gained industry fame at the helm of projects such as Black & White or Fable, inextricably linking his name to figments of fantastical worlds, deep characters and far-reaching decisions on virtue and morality. In 2012, Molyneux founded 22Cans and branched out to mobile gaming. So far, remarkably little has come off it on iPhone.

In view of the latest product out of 22Cans' think tank, the rules might however just have changed. Their latest adventure goes by the name The Trail and revolves around the ostensibly quiet premise of wandering nature. Contrary to some notions inherent to hiking though, it is remarkably entertaining, oddly social and distinctly Molyneux. Oh, and it is a visual treat for your eyes.

Find out if the game with the curious premise is cut out for you in our review.

Luca Todesco tweets photo of iPhone 7 jailbroken on iOS 10.1.1

At the end of last week, a demo video surfaced on Reddit revealing what appeared to be an iPhone 7 running iOS 10.1 that was jailbroken.

There was a lot of skepticism surrounding its legitimacy, but now the established iOS hacker Luca Todesco is sharing photographic evidence of his own iPhone 7 jailbroken on iOS 10.1.1 via Twitter.

Round the corners of the multitasking cards in the App Switcher with RoundedSwitchr

RoundedSwitchr is a new free jailbreak tweak that lets you add rounded corners to the multitasking cards in your iPhone or iPad's App Switcher.

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings app where you can control the corner roundness radius. The default is 10.0, but our screenshot above is pretty close to the 30.0 mark. You can set this radius amount as low as 0.0 or as high as 100.0.
