Jailbreak Notifications Developer Now An Apple Employee

Peter Hajas, the lead developer of the popular jailbreak notifications replacement, MobileNotifier, is now an Apple "iOS Apps and Frameworks" employee. We originally speculated that Hajas was working for Apple when he announced that he was leaving as the head of the MobileNotifier development team, and it has now been confirmed that Apple has hired Peter Hajas to work on iOS.

iOS 5 will be unveiled at WWDC on Monday, and Apple could introduce a new system of push notifications. It's unlikely that any of Peter's work will be seen in iOS 5. He is most likely working on a future update to Apple's mobile software...

Scoble: Apple is Building Twitter in Deeply into iOS 5

Following our report a few days ago that Twitter was going to be integrated into iOS 5, tech evangelist Robert Scoble is adding that not only Twitter will be integrated into iOS 5, but it will actually be built deeply into Apple's latest iOS.

At this point we can only speculate what this deep integration is going to bring to iOS users: widgets, BBM-like messaging system, photo sharing? Your guess is as good as mine...

iOS 5 has clearly been a source of creativity for designers across the globe. With the WWDC getting closer, we're seeing more and more of these iOS 5 concepts. From dashboard to app switching, and from widgets to settings, there are tons of great ideas being put out there.

In this iOS 5 concept video, the Monkey Color design studio shows us how they envision Widgets, Settings, Notifications, and Favorite Friends on Apple's upcoming operating system, and it looks good...

Twitter Integration Coming to iOS 5

With WWDC and iOS 5 right around the corner, it appears that Apple will be focusing more on social integration. We've heard rumors of a 'MediaStream' service from Apple that would allow you to view and share photos with your friends, and now it appears that Twitter will be integrated in iOS 5.

Instead of opening your favorite Twitter client to upload and share a photo, you could send a photo to Twitter directly from the iPhone's Camera app...

Everything You Need to Know About the Mysterious iCloud

Apple issued a very unusual press release earlier today that outlined what would be announced at the World Wide Developer's Conference next Monday, June 6th. Steve Jobs will be speaking and talking about Mac OS X Lion, iOS 5, and the newly-confirmed 'iCloud' service.

Apple's press release was unusual because it was oddly descriptive. Even though nothing was actually said about iCloud, Apple still bothered to state that iCloud, an unreleased product, would be part of the WWDC lineup.

When has Apple ever stated the name of an unreleased product in a press release? Why would the company do so?

Over the last few months we've heard several rumors surrounding Apple's new cloud service. Though cloud-based storage was originally thought to be part of a major MobileMe revamp, gossip has taken the service from a feature to a headline.

Between the rumblings of music industry insiders and digital evidence that Apple recently purchased the iCloud domain name, it's been pretty safe to assume Apple had something up its sleeve. We've seen our fair share of iOS 5 concepts lately. From multitasking and app switching to speech recognition, these concepts are basically all we got while waiting for iOS 5 to be unveiled at the WWDC next week in San Francisco.

Designer Frederic Bianco spent countless hours working on his iOS 5 concept and the results are spectacular. His work consists in a 97 slides presentation, going through different part of the UI, and sharing his vision of what the lockscreen, widgets, the settings, etc, should look like on iOS 5...

Could the Developer of MobileNotifier Be Working with Apple on Push Notifications?

MobileNotifier and Peter Hajas got a lot of attention on iDB yesterday. I reviewed MobileNotifier, a popular jailbreak replacement for notifications in iOS, and then we speculated that MobileNotifier's developer, Peter Hajas, could have recently been hired by Apple and taken out of the jailbreak community to work on push notifications in an upcoming version of iOS.

This theory was propelled by a tip we received from who we assume to be an Apple employee at Cupertino. Our tipster told us that working on notification replacements for iOS, like MobileNotifier, was "bad timing for jailbreak developers" and that Apple was about to "take the jailbreak community by surprise."

Directly following that tip, Peter Hajas announced on his blog that he was "taking a break" from developing for MobileNotifier to pursue "other opportunities." Sound suspicious to you too?

Apple will Continue to use Google Maps in iOS 5

We've reported on several occasions that Apple has been looking to revamp its Maps application in iOS. After the purchase of PlaceBase and multiple suspicious job listings, we certainly have had reason to believe that Apple has some major changes in mind for the Maps app.

The big question has been (with Apple and Google quickly becoming competitors across multiple markets): will Google continue to have a hand in the Maps application?
