New Jailbreak App SlideAway Now Available in Cydia

Last week we told you about an upcoming jailbreak app called SlideAway which seemed like a promising way to enhance your iPhone lockscreen. The app is now live and available to download from Cydia.

SlideAway brings substance to your iPhone's lockscreen, allowing you to access the apps you use the most without having to unlock the device. Additionally, SlideAway keeps track of your unread mails, SMS, missed calls or push notifications, displaying a count of unread items right from your lockscreen...

Though the iPhone's virtual keyboard has been named one of the best in the business, it still lacks a fairly major feature: haptic feedback. The little vibration that lets you know a key has been pressed is on nearly every other touchscreen smartphone on the market, but not the iPhone.

Luckily we have the jailbreak community to produce apps and tweaks that makeup for iOS shortcomings. Though there have been haptic feedback utilities in Cydia for quite some time now, they've never really impressed me. They always seemed to make iOS slower and less reliable, until now...

UnFolder – Delete Entire Folders with a Single Tap

Getting rid of a folder can be quite time consuming, depending on how many applications it contains. If there are just 2 or 3 apps then it isn't that bad, but 5 or more can get pretty tedious.

That's because to delete a folder, you must first drag every application from the folder back to the home screen. After the last app is removed, the folder deletes itself. A new utility is coming to Cydia though, that could change all of that...

It hasn't been 20 minutes since I published a post about iOS 5 likely to take a stab at the jailbreak community that Apple may have already claimed its first victim. Its name? MobileNotifier, the exact same app we reviewed and praised this morning.

After spending 8 months working on MobileNotifier, Peter Hajas announced on his blog minutes ago that he was "taking a break from MobileNotifier and Widge for a while". Simple coincidence, or did Apple made him an offer he can't refuse?

iOS 5 to Kill the Jailbreak Community?

On the 1st of January, I published my annual predictions for the iPhone for the coming year. In there, I mentioned that 2011 was going to be the year of iOS, and even though we have yet to see what Apple is cooking up for us, it seems that I was right about that point.

My 2011 predictions for the iPhone didn't stop there. On top of dropping a few features I think the iPhone 5 will sport, I also made the bold statement that Apple will open the doors to a world of apps and tweaks that are currently only available in Cydia. Want to call me crazy? Not so fast...

TidySpring, a New Jailbreak App to Clean Up Your iPhone Springboard

TidySpring is a new jailbreak application that brings easy springboard customization to your iPhone. The tweak is pretty simple and straightforward.

After installing the app from Cydia, you will have to go to the Settings app as TidySpring doesn't come with its own icon. From there, you will have loads of options to turn on and off in order to customize your springboard the way you want it. AndroidLoader Now Available in Cydia

A couple days ago we told you about AndroidLoader, an upcoming jailbreak application that replicates the way Android lets you see all your apps on one single page. AndroidLoader is now available in Cydia for $2.99.

Looking at the comments left on our previous post about AndroidLoader, it is my understanding that you guys wouldn't find it very helpful and that it might be a bit overpriced for what it does...

In the shadow of intuitive notification systems from Palm and other competitors, the iOS push notification system is certainly lacking. Luckily there are some great utilities for us jailbroken folks to change the look and feel of your iOS notifications.

Although tweaks like MobileNotifier look promising, they don't seem quite reliable yet to handle the daily grind. But don't worry, there's still hope to bring a revamped notification system to your current device...

Ever thought the glowy status bar that shows up when tethering your iPhone was kind of dull? Want to spice things up a bit? Then Tetherize may be for you, assuming you use the native tethering capability, and not a jailbreak app like MyWi or PDAnet.

Tetherize is a new jailbreak application that allows you to slightly customize the tethering status bar by adding text to it, or by stopping the glossy bar from glowing. That's all there is to this app so far, although the dev promises "loads of new styles coming up"...
