Preview: Auxo for iPad

In just two days, one of the most anticipated jailbreak tweaks to ever hit the iPad will touch down. Obviously I'm referring to Auxo for iPad, the jailbreak tweak that will finally reinvigorate the iOS app switcher on the larger screen.

Auxo for iPad has taken a long time to arrive, because it has been meticulously built and designed. Instead of simply porting a rough version of the tweak to the iPad, the team behind the popular iPhone release decided to take their time and get it right. Did they accomplish their goal? ITC finds Apple guilty of infringing Samsung patent, bans certain devices

This is huge. The United States International Trade Commission just ordered a US import ban against older iPhones and iPads, after finding Apple guilty of infringing on a cellular standard-esential patent asserted by Samsung.

The ban, which encompasses a number of various iOS device models including the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS and 3G iPads, will go into effect within 60 days unless vetoed by the White House during a Presidential Review period...

First WWDC 2013 banners go up at Moscone West (hint: flat icons)

With less than a week until the highly anticipated June 10 keynote at Apple's summer conference for developers, first banners are now going up at Moscone Center in San Francisco. Judging by the looks of it, WWDC 2013 will focus on a major iOS redesign that Tim Cook officially confirmed last week during his D11 segment. Apple releases OS X 10.8.4 with improvements for Wi-Fi, Exchange and more

Heads up Mac users, Apple has just released OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4. The update, which was in beta testing for several months, features a number of long awaited improvements and bug fixes.

Included in the list of refinements is better compatibility with certain Wi-Fi networks, Exchange improvements in Calendar, and—yes!—a fix for the iMessage issue that displays messages out of order...

comScore: Apple increases lead as top US smartphone maker

While Wall Street analysts and investors seem pretty content with the 'Apple is doomed' meme, the numbers continue to fall in Apple's favor. The company's mobile devices are still wildly popular and selling out in droves— particularly here in the US.

Market research firm comScore published a new report today regarding the state of the US smartphone market. And not only does it show that Apple is leading in smartphone marketshare in the country, but it's growing faster than the competition...

Time Warner CEO says it’s discussing streaming video deals with Apple and others

This is kind of interesting. Speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Telecom and Media conference today, Time Warner's CEO Glenn Britt told investors that the cable company is in talks with a few tech giants, including Apple, over video streaming deals.

Britt says the deals are similar to the one Time Warner inked with Roku back in March, which allows subscribers to stream 300 cable channels to the Internet-connected set-top box. And his comments suggest we could see a comparable package land on the Apple TV...

New-look inbox arrives to Gmail iOS app

A week ago, the Internet giant Google started rolling out a new-look inbox with categories and tabbed interface to help users better organize their messages. In order to take advantage of these features on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you'll need Google's freshly updated Gmail iOS app. Gmail version 2.3.14159 includes richer and selective notification options along with the new sortable inbox. Apple patents S Beam-like device transfers

A 2009 Apple patent application is gaining renewed attention, not only because the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) today issued a patent to the iPhone maker, but how the technology could keep pace with smartphone rival Samsung.

At issue is finding a way to easily transfer data between handsets and desktop computers. The patent, titled "System and method for simplified data transfer" describes how two Apple devices could wirelessly sync data using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, a system as yet unavailable in Apple products but part of Samsung's S Beam feature on select NFC-enabled Galaxy devices...

Flipswitch: a new centralized toggle system for iOS

We've covered hundreds if not thousands of jailbreak apps, tweaks, and themes over the years, and many of them contain some form of toggle to enable and disable functionality on device. Wouldn't it be great if there was a centralized means of providing toggles, instead of each developer wasting resources to come up with their own? Having a centralized toggle framework would also ensure that functionality remains more or less the same amongst the variety of different apps and tweaks.

That's where Flipswitch — a new centralized toggle system for iOS — steps in to save the day. A collaboration between developers Ryan Petrich and Jack Willis, Flipswitch is a generalized toggle framework that's ready to go out of the box. This is a new tool that will make it easy for developers to implement toggles into their apps and tweaks with very few lines of code.
