How to test your RAM’s integrity with MemTest86

If you've been experiencing strange behaviour from your computer, or have recently upgraded or replaced your RAM, it might be a good idea to test its integrity. This ensures that it is installed correctly, that no part of it has failed, and that it has no intermittent problems.

extra_recipe+yaluX reaches Beta 3: now with Substrate

As many of you will by now be aware, the yalu+mach_portal tool for iOS 10.1(.1) is no more. Troubled as it was with stability issues stemming from the mach_portal exploit it used, many iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners struggled with it, or chose not to use it at all. Luckily, that struggle is now over, as an updated tool entitled extra_recipe+yaluX has been released.

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus get a stable jailbreak on iOS 10.1.1 with extra_recipe+yaluX

Developer xerub has just released an updated version of Ian Beer's mach_portal exploit, entitled extra_recipe. This new iteration should resolve the stability issues which have been plaguing iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users on the iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak.

Yalu creator Luca Todesco has in turn picked up the extra_recipe code and paired it with his Yalu jailbreak, compiling the project into a downloadable .ipa to create extra_recipe+yaluX, which effectively replaces his previous yalu+mach_portal tool.

Last chance to save blobs for, or restore to, iOS 10.3.1

The signing window for iOS 10.3.1 could close any moment now, with iOS 10.3.2 released and iOS 10.3.3 in beta already, so this is your last chance to save your blobs for iOS 10.3.1, to upgrade to it from a lower firmware, or to downgrade to it from iOS 10.3.2+.

iOS 10.3.1 isn't currently jailbroken, and being on that firmware is in no way a guarantee of a jailbreak. However, you never know what'll happen, and there have been some stirrings, so act now! Take necessary precautions before signing ends.

How to make SSH persistent on the liberTV jailbreak for Apple TV 4

If you've been tinkering around with your Apple TV 4 jailbroken on tvOS 10 with liberTV, you may have noticed that its built-in SSH client, Dropbear, has a tendency to be purged every so often, requiring it be re-spawned and set up again. This is due to the developer's (admirable) desire to retain all jailbreak-related files in temporary folders on the filesystem, reducing the risk of bricking your device while fiddling with it to near-zero. If you are confident enough to move a few files out of their temporary folder however, you can easily get your SSH client up and running persistently, avoiding those tedious reconfigurations which otherwise occur.

How to install Kodi on Apple TV 4

Kodi, previously known as XBMC, is an open source media player, and a veritable one-stop shop for all your media needs. Whilst it has been a favourite of Apple TV users for a long time, there is not always a recent tvOS release, and the process to install it has been complex at times. This guide gives the simplest process, without recourse to unofficial distributions.

It doesn't require a jailbreak, and should work on both tvOS 10 and tvOS 9.

How to use Extender Installer to automatically re-sign your jailbreak app

Update: As of the 0.3.2 update, the app is now called Extender: Reloaded, search for that in Cydia instead of Extender Installer.

Now that Extender: Reloaded has been released for Cydia Extender on jailbroken devices, we've had a few requests for a quick guide on how to use it. Look no further! Follow our how-to below to ensure your jailbreak app never needs sideloading from a computer again. At last, your semi-untethered jailbreak is truly semi-untethered.

No more 7-day signing woes: use Extender Installer

Update: the tool is now entitled Extender: Reloaded, not Extender Installer. Amend your Cydia search accordingly.

Since the release of Yalu for iOS 10, many users have been faced with a new annoyance: the 7-day signing period for their jailbreak app. Without a paid Apple developer account they are forced to connect their devices to their computers once a week to sideload their jailbreak app again.

Whilst this has technically been true for all semi-(un)tethered jailbreaks, it was never an issue with Pangu 9.2-9.3.3 because it came with a one-year certificate, and later a re-jailbreaking website. It was with mach_portal and Yalu102 that the problem became evident.
