The new iPad to launch in 24 more countries this Friday

It's no secret that Apple's new tablet has been an overwhelming success thus far. The company announced yesterday that it sold more than three million iPads during its opening weekend — a new record for tablet sales.

But perhaps even more impressive is the amount of iPads that are still available. Retailers still have tons of the tablets on hand, and Apple is looking to launch the new iPad in 24 more countries this Friday...

Sprint bankruptcy a legitimate risk as Apple jumps on the LTE bandwagon

Sprint's stock fell 4% yesterday as investors reacted to a report that the risk of the carrier going bankrupt was increasing. Bernstein analyst Craig Moffett downgraded Sprint shares from "market-perform" to "underperform" based on the news.

While the company, which happens to be the third largest wireless provider in the US, has had a long string of poor quarters over the past few years, analysts had high hopes for the carrier after it finally became an iPhone partner late last fall...

What Apple should do with its money

Sunday night, when Apple announced that it was going to be holding a conference call the following morning regarding its plans for its massive cash pile, the internet ran wild with speculation.

We heard all kinds of theories, ranging from a surprise Twitter buyout to a small carrier acquisition. But Apple's actual announcement of dividends and stock buybacks was much more tame.

While this outcome might have appeased investors, it left some of us wanting more. Here's what I think the company should do with its money...

iPhone Mug Case helps you “handle” your daily tasks

Those looking for a different, yet functional iPhone case might be interested in this little guy. The Mug Case, offered up by the folks at Taylor, promises to make your life easier with its unique design.

The all-rubber case features a coffee mug-like handle that can be used to prop your phone up on a table top, or to carry the handset around with a single finger. And best of all, it won't break the bank...

Fifth Avenue Apple Store sold over 13,000 iPads in first 12 hours

Earlier today, both AT&T and Apple announced that they saw record-breaking iPad sales over the weekend. Neither company, however, gave any kind of specific sales figures.

So while everyone is speculating — we've heard it's well over a million — The Verge has gotten some ballpark estimates from the popular Fifth Avenue Apple Store in New York City...

Unlock your CDMA iPhone 4S with Gevey Ultra S Interposer SIM

The folks over at HowToarena are reporting that a new SIM interposer for the iPhone 4S is about to hit the market. The GEVEY Ultra S promises to unlock both GSM and CDMA handsets, which is a fairly big deal.

We've already seen a couple of SIM interposers launch for Apple's latest handset this year. Last month alone we told you about two new products, the R-SIM and TP-SIM. But neither worked with Sprint handsets...

Tim Cook says Apple has a “pipeline full of stuff”

As expected, Apple held a conference call this morning to discuss plans regarding its stockpile of cash. Although investor relations and iPad numbers were the highlights of the call, Tim Cook did make another interesting announcement.

When asked about Apple's growth outlook — now that it's going to spend $10 billion dollars repurchasing stock, investors want to know how it's going to make that money back — Cook said that Apple's "pipeline is full of stuff..."

Apple’s cheapest iOS device might also be the most secure

All things considered, it's been a pretty good weekend for the jailbreak community. Not only have hackers managed to find multiple exploits for the new iPad (within 24 hours no less), but we've even seen proof of an untethered jailbreak.

It gets better. Word is that the work that is being done on Apple's new tablet will also apply to older devices on iOS 5.1, except perhaps the new Apple TV. Apparently, the least expensive iOS device also happens to be the most secure...

Apple to make big announcement tomorrow regarding cash balance

During Apple's quarterly earnings call earlier this year, it was discovered that the company's pile of cash was approaching the $100 billion dollar mark. And everyone wants to know what it plans to do with it.

Well it looks like we won't have to wait much longer to find out. As noted by MacStories, Apple has just sent out a press release announcing that it will be holding a conference call early tomorrow morning regarding its massive cash balance...

New iPad jailbreak gets the untethered treatment

Earlier today, Apple's new Retina display-equipped iPad went on sale around the world. Perhaps even more exciting was the fact that the Dev Team was able to jailbreak the new tablet within a matter of hours.

Now it looks like there has been another development. Well-known iDevice hacker i0n1c has just announced that he has jailbroken his third-generation iPad. Oh yeah, and it's untethered...

TinyUmbrella updated with support for new iPad and Apple TV

It's not even Noon yet here on the west coast and today has already proven to be fairly eventful. Not only did Apple's new iPad go on sale around the world this morning, but the tablet was jailbroken within hours.

And now we've learned that NotCom has just updated TinyUmbrella to version 5.10.08. The new software, which saves your devices' SHSH Blobs, now includes support for the new Apple TV and yes, the new iPad...

The new iPad has already been jailbroken

Well, that didn't take long. The new iPad hasn't even been on sale for a full 12 hours yet, and it's already been jailbroken. We mentioned yesterday that Apple's latest tablet might be susceptible to previous jailbreak methods. And it looks like we were right.

MuscleNerd, a trusted member of the Dev Team, just tweeted out pics of his late-generation iPad hacked, and running Cydia 1.1.5. It's hard to see in the screenshot (above), but the software labels his device as an iPad 3,3, running iOS 5.1...
