With the launch of macOS Sonoma the world of wallpapers and screen savers became blurred in the most incredible way. Capturing sites from nature to cityscape, the fascination of Apple TV wallpapers make their way to desktop with macOS Sonoma. A flyover experience is frozen in time for the benefit of these iPhone wallpapers.
macOS Sonoma wallpapers
Perhaps not surprisingly, one of the best new features of macOS Sonoma is the wallpaper flyover capability. Ever since the Apple TV fly over screen savers launched, I have been fascinated with these video clips.
The first time this was possible for Apple desktop came in 2015, thanks to developer John Coates. Coates was able to access the actual Apple TV server that stored the fly over screen saver videos. With that link, he created a native-like wallpaper application for OS X that would pull the video feeds down to your Mac. This custom wallpaper program, Ariel, is still available and compatible with macOS Sonoma. Ariel also uses an incredible repository of additional 4K fly over videos.
macOS Sonoma finally brings the capability to Mac, in a native way. The screen saver launches and a fly over begins. When you begin to log back into the machine, the video slowly comes to a stop and that is your operating wallpaper for that session. It is a seamlessly incredible experience.
Thanks to the creative work of @AR72014, we are able to download stills of these macOS Sonoma screen save fly overs. From the collection, my favorite wallpaper is the Utah sunset. The rich red colors against the soft pink skyline shows an incredible contrast in dynamic color.
