“The era of spatial computing has arrived,” said Apple’s CEO Tim Cook. “Apple Vision Pro is the most advanced consumer electronics device ever created. Its revolutionary and magical user interface will redefine how we connect, create and explore.”

The Vision Pro ships with a Solo Knit Band and Dual Loop Band in the box, so you can try and use the one that best fits the contours of your face.

Moreover, your purchase includes a Light Seal that blocks out unwanted outside light, two Light Seal cushions, a cover that protects the front of the device when not in use, a battery that connects to the headset via a magnetic connection, a USB-C charge cable and a power adapter.

Apple even threw in its Polishing Cloth at no extra charge.

The Vision Pro has its own App Store to download existing and new third-party apps made explicitly for the visionOS operating system. The headset runs existing iPhone and iPad apps in virtual 2D windows within 3D space. Apple says there are over one million iOS, iPadOS and native visionOS apps listed on the App Store.

Native visionOS apps include well-known titles like Fantastical, JigSpace, Slack, Apple’s Freeform software and apps from Microsoft 365. The Vision Pro can run existing games, including 250+ Apple Arcade titles. Games optimized for spatial computing include Game Room, What the Golf? and Super Fruit Ninja.

visionOS uses passthrough video to run apps in your environment. You can navigate visionOS’s three-dimensional user interface with your eyes, hands and voice.

You can even lose yourself in virtual environments like Haleakalā, Joshua Tree, the Yosemite National Parks, the moon’s surface, etc. The Digital Crown dial on the device’s left side lets you adjust the level of immersion in fine increments.

3D movies and spatial video

The iPhone maker recently invited retail managers for a secret Vision Pro sales training. In anticipation of the forthcoming launch, the Apple TV app began adding 3D movies that can be viewed in stereoscopic 3D on the Vision Pro.

Vision Pro also introduces Apple Immersive Video, a remarkable new entertainment format pioneered by Apple that puts users inside the action with 180-degree, three-dimensional 8K recordings captured with Spatial Audio. Users can also enjoy new interactive experiences like Encounter Dinosaurs.

At publication time, the TV app shopwed more than 150 movies available in 3D. Moreover, iOS 17.2 has brought the ability to record spatial video with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which can be enjoyed on the headset.
