Following the announcement about the new puaf_landa kfd exploit method on New Years Day for 2024, we learned that the kfd exploit’s effectiveness could be expanded to support all versions of iOS & iPadOS 16 as the method was officially patched in iOS & iPadOS 17.0.
Worthy of note, however, is that the puaf_landa method also appears to be making progress possible on the iOS & iPadOS 15 side of things, as nekoJB lead developer HAHALOSAH pleasantly learned about this morning.
Citing an announcement shared in the nekoJB Discord server early Monday morning, the puaf_landa method has made it possible for the nekoJB tool to expand support all the way out to iOS & iPadOS 15.8 with a new fourth beta release. Previously, support ended at iOS & iPadOS 15.7.6.
The announcement says that support should include all versions of iOS & iPadOS 15 between 15.7.6-15.8, which includes iOS & iPadOS 15.7.7, 15.7.8, 15.7.9, and 15.8. Obviously, much of this remains untested as the developer only has a limited amount of test devices to play with, but they did confirm that it works on their iPhone 7 running iOS 15.8.
It’s worth noting that nekoJB beta 4 is a beta release, so it may not be entirely stable. Users who choose to use this are advised to do so at their own risk.
The nekoJB project is a kfd exploit-based jailbreak, but only for older arm64 devices – the same ones that can already be jailbroken by way of the palera1n jailbreak tool. It’s worth noting, however, that nekoJB is a semi-untethered jailbreak while palera1n is a semi-tethered jailbreak, so it’s slightly more convenient to use.

Those who are already jailbroken by way of the palera1n jailbreak can also utilize the meowbrek2 re-jailbreaking utility, which effectively converts your palera1n jailbreak into a semi-untethered jailbreak, so this may be an easier route to take.
In any case, it’s nice to see developers quickly embracing support for the new pauf_landa kfd method. Soon enough, it may be paired with the Kaspersky GReAT team’s PPL bypass to make an arm64e device (A12+) jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 16.0-16.5.1, so there are still many great things to come soon.
