Apple expands Self Service Repair program to iPhone 15 and M2 Macs, launches a new diagnostic tool

Apple’s Self Service Repair program is now available in more countries, and now includes the iPhone 15 family and M2-powered Mac computers.

The company also unveiled a new Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair service for experienced users troubleshooting their device to identify parts needing repair.

The new diagnostic tool launched today in the United States. Customers in Europe will be able to take advantage of Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair in 2024.

According to an Apple Newsroom announcement, the company has also expanded the Self Service Repair program. It now includes the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, as well as M2-powered Macs, including the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro, 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac mini, Mac Pro and Mac Studio.

Older Mac models powered by the company’s M1 chip were added to the Self Service Repair program in 2022. Apple also announced that this program is now available in 24 additional countries in Europe, including Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland.

“With this latest expansion, Self Service Repair now supports 35 Apple products in 33 countries and 24 languages,” reads the announcement,

The Self Service Repair program is Apple’s answer to the Right to Repair movement. It gives people access to genuine Apple parts and the same repair tools used by authorized technicians. Still, even simple repairs like swapping the battery or replacing a smashed screen are better handled by people who do this for a living.

“For users who don’t have experience repairing electronic devices, visiting a professional Apple Authorized Service Provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts—designed and tested to internationally recognized standards—is the safest and most reliable way to get a repair,” Apple cautions.
