Picasso offering free TrollStore 2 installations on arm64e devices via kfd exploit for next two days

It would seem that Misaka isn’t the only package manager app providing an easy way to install the TrollStore 2 perma-signing utility on iPhones and iPads running iOS & iPadOS 16. Picasso, a popular jailed toolbox for installing add-ons and tweaks for non-jailbroken arm64e (A12+) devices running iOS & iPadOS 16.0-16.6 beta 1 via the kfd exploit, has now done the same.

Project lead developer @sourcelocation announced the latest capability via their Discord channel and on X (formerly Twitter) Monday evening, noting that while Picasso is generally a paid service, it will be free for TrollStore 2 installations for the next two days only, giving users ample time to try the service that the developer says is, “by far the easiest installation method of TrollStore 2 right now.”

So what’s involved? As noted in the Discord channel, there are eight primary steps to get TrollStore 2 installed on your device via Picasso. Those are noted in the block quote below:

1) Register an account on https://repo.sourceloc.net/
2) Install the app I attached here using AltStore, SideStore, etc.
3) Log in (no need to purchase!)
4) Go into “Explore” tab
5) Install “TrollStore” tweak
6) Apply changes in the home tab
7) If the “applying…” alert disappears you need to reboot your device
8) You should now be able to open Tips and install TrollStore from there

This installation method is touted to work on iOS & iPadOS 16.0-16.5 on all arm64e devices (A12 and later) except for the M1 chip-equipped iPad Pro models. After you get TrollStore 2 installed, the CoreTrust bug gets to work and perma-signs TrollStore on your device so that you can use it to perma-sign other apps on your device; this includes Picasso and other package manager apps like it.

The developers do warn in a follow-up comment that there’s a known bug impacting iOS & iPadOS 16.0-16.1.2 users, which you should probably know about if you use these versions. Specifically, there’s a crash on these versions that can only be remedied by reinstalling the app and disabling Background App Refresh. The kfd exploit must then be set in Picasso’s exploit settings.

If you’re not already using Picasso, then you can head over to @sourcelocation’s website to learn more. Please note that the free offer only stands for the next two days, and once installed, Picasso won’t remain free for you forever.
