Apple releases firmware update 6B32 for AirPods Pro 2

If you own a pair of AirPods Pro 2, whether it’s the one with the MagSafe charging case with the Lightning port or the MagSafe charging case with the USB-C port, then you might want to be aware of a new software update that Apple released on Thursday.

The latest software update for AirPods Pro 2 has been designated version 6B32 and succeeds the previous firmware version 6A305.

Apple states in the release notes for AirPods Pro 2 firmware version 6B32 that this version introduces “bug fixes and other improvements,” but as usual with AirPods Pro 2 software updates, the company doesn’t expand on what they’ve fixed or improved.

Usually, these types of updates can address audio quality concerns, issues with controls, or enhance some other niche feature that Apple’s headphones offer, like Spatial Audio.

If you aren’t sure what firmware version your AirPods Pro 2 are running, then you can check by connecting them to your iPhone and navigating to Settings → Bluetooth and tapping on the “i” button. The firmware version is depicted as shown:

Unlike most Apple devices, you can’t manually initiate a software update for your AirPods Pro 2. Instead, users must rely on automatic software updates that only happen when your AirPods Pro 2 are charging and in Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac connected to Wi-Fi.

Alternatively, you can take the AirPods Pro 2 to an Apple Store, which is one of the only firmware update avenues for Android users who use any AirPods, assuming they care enough to drive to an Apple Store to update the firmware on their earbuds for bug fixes that may or may not be noticed by the end user.
