AquaBoard XS picks up iOS 16 support, giving jailbreakers awesome water effects on the Lock Screen

iOS developer Limneos is out with another exciting jailbreak tweak update this week in the form of AquaBoard XS v2.0, which adds an aesthetically-pleasing 3D liquid effect to the Lock Screen.

AquaBoard XS isn’t a new jailbreak tweak, but the latest update breathes new life into the project as it picks up iOS & iPadOS 14, 15, and 16 support in addition to playing nicely with all the slick new Lock Screen enhancements incorporated by Apple in iOS 16.

While AquaBoard XS can be used with any wallpaper, my opinion is that it looks great with water-based wallpapers including the iconic Apple clownfish version that includes the green background and foreground elements. This combination gives off underwater-esque vibes that please the eyes with watery movement. Just see the example above.

Limneos says that AquaBoard XS achieves these aesthetics with the help of real 3D Open-GL ES 2.0-based water ripple effects. Moreover, the tweak is battery-conscious because it automatically disables the animations whenever the Lock Screen isn’t visible.

The tweak is also highly configurable, giving users the option to adjust things like frames per second, whether animations appear on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, or both, and choose between different animation modes.

AquaBoard XS is available from the BigBoss repository via any package manger app of your choosing. After completing the download, users will need to purchase a license for $2.69 to continue using the tweak.

Are you planning to take advantage of AquaBoard XS now that the tweak supports later versions of iOS? Let us know in the comments section down below.
