New Ambience jailbreak tweak uses HomeKit lighting to provide ambient light while watching videos

It’s not every day we witness the jailbreak tweak releases that integrate with Apple’s HomeKit, but that’s exactly what we’re getting with a new one called Ambience by iOS developer cemck.

Ambience is going to be really cool for anyone who has HomeKit-compatible multi-color light bulbs, light strips, or another type of compatible light that can change colors via the Home app on iPhone or iPad.

As described in the tweak’s depiction page, Ambience grabs RBG data from videos playing in compatible apps and then applies those colors to your room’s HomeKit lighting to provide an immersive ambient lighting effect in real time.

The notes mention that supported apps at the time of this writing include Safari and YouTube, with more support potentially planned in the future. It’s also worth noting that you can control which room(s) in your home that the lighting effects happen in so that you don’t end up with a color rave all across your entire house.

Those wanting additional control over Ambience are further advised to install the separate CCSupport add-on, which provides a Control Center toggle that can be used to turn the tweak on or off on demand.

Those interested in giving the new Ambience jailbreak tweak a try can purchase it for $3.99 from the Havoc repository via their favorite package manager app. Please note that the tweak requires a jailbroken iOS or iPadOS 14 device and compatible multi-color HomeKit-enabled lighting gear.
