TWSafeSearch auto-deletes your search history in the Twitter app

Privacy is a growing concern each and every day, and it’s easy to see why given the prevalence of trackers and and data breaches affecting the user accounts of various online services.

If you’re a Twitter user, then one way you can improve your account’s privacy is by keeping your search history scrubbed. Think Private Browsing for Twitter; this ensures that anyone looking over your shoulder or gaining unauthorized access to your account won’t know what you’ve been looking up.

TWSafeSearch is a newly released and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer @CrazyMind90 that turns this idea into a reality. Once installed, it automatically clears your Twitter app’s search history and prevents the app from logging future searches, like so:

What you see above is a Twitter app with a running search history before installing TWSafeSearch (left) and a Twitter app with a scrubbed search history after installing TWSafeSearch (right).

TWSafeSearch automatically clears your search history and accounts that you’ve tried to view without any intervention on your part, which makes it wildly convenient if you’re in need of this kind of enhanced Private Browsing on Twitter.

One thing worth noting is that the tweak works with the latest version of the app at the time of this writing, which appears to be v8.70.2. Furthermore, it can only remove searches from the app on your jailbroken device, which means searches performed on another device may not be deleted as expected.

Those interested in trying to boost their privacy when using Twitter can download the new TWSafeSearch tweak for free from the BigBoss repository via their favorite package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 12, 13, and 14 devices as long as they have the official Twitter app installed.
