Customize the toggling sound of your pwned iPhone’s flashlight with FlashSound

If you use your iPhone’s rear-facing LED flash as a flashlight to help you navigate dark environments from time to time, then you’re far from alone.

Right out of the box, Apple provides a shortcut on the Lock Screen for the aforementioned purpose, and it even offers a satisfying amount of haptic feedback when toggled. As for a cool sound effect, however, users are left underwhelmed.

FlashSound is a newly released and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer NaneraManu that solves this problem, and it does so by allowing users to customize the flashlight toggle sound effect to their liking.

Once installed, FlashSound adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app for configuration:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle FlashSound on or off on demand
  • Enable and choose a flashlight on sound effect
  • Enable and choose a flashlight off sound effect
  • Reset all settings to their defaults
  • Respring to save your changes

One thing we’d like to point out is that FlashSound supports a metric truckload of sounds… so many that we can’t even screenshot all of them or list them out. Most appear to be system sounds, but that’s fine as iOS & iPadOS offer a lot to choose from.

Those interested in giving FlashSound a try can download the tweak for free from the Packix repository via their favorite package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS & iPadOS 14 devices.
