Cydia Impactor v0.9.53 update adds support for Apple WWDR certificate & other fixes

Jay Freeman, also known to the jailbreak community as Saurik, appears to be at it again this week after releasing a surprise update for Cydia Impactor for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

The latest version of the Cydia Impactor utility comes in the form of version 0.9.53 and incorporates a number of changes for the small subset of users who are still able to use it.

From what we can gather, Cydia Impactor version 0.9.53 introduces the following changes:

  • Embed new Apple WWDR certificate
  • Fix reading some Android device names
  • Support new code directory version

It should be noted that this update doesn’t change anything in terms of who can use Cydia Impactor. As of late 2019, the utility still only works if you have access to a paid Apple developer account. Unfortunately for those with free Apple developer accounts, it will still display an error regarding your Xcode version.

For the reason mentioned above, the AltStore and AltServer combo by Riley Testut continue to be the recommended way for most people to side load jailbreak apps such as unc0ver and other .ipa files to their iPhone or iPad without having to go through the App Store.

So long as you have access to a paid Apple developer account, you can download and use the latest version of Cydia Impactor as an alternative to AltStore and AltServer at your leisure. It’s available for free for macOS, Windows, and Linux from the official cydiaimpactor.com website.

Are you able to take advantage of Cydia Impactor’s latest update, or are you going to be sticking with AltStore and AltServer? Discuss in the comments section below.
