For the folks out there who like to spend time outside but don’t want to lose out on listening to music, being able to bring along a Bluetooth speaker is a welcomed one.
But having to worry about water isn’t great, which is why a waterproof Bluetooth speaker is the best way to go for some situations. Whether that’s because you’re heading to the beach, going to spend time by the pool, at a river or lake, or might be in a spot where it’s going to rain, not having to worry about some moisture is comforting. Plus, it means you can keep the music playing even if your speaker gets wet.
We’ve put together a quick list of the best waterproof Bluetooth speakers you can get right now, so let’s dig in:
The best waterproof speakers with Bluetooth
Ultimate Ears BOOM 3
The Ultimate Ears BOOM 3 is designed to be super portable, easy to bring along with you, and its waterproof design means it can survive in a rainstorm or the pool. And this portable Bluetooth-equipped speaker can actually float, so tossing it into the pool is an actual thing you can do with this speaker. It can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
The rechargeable battery can keep the music playing for up to 15 hours on a single charge. And it supports wireless charging, too, but you’ll need the proprietary POWER UP charging dock to charge that way.
As far as sound is concerned, it has a maximum sound level of 90dBa, and it has a frequency range between 90Hz to 20 Kilohertz. Ultimate Ears says the speaker has been fine-tuned to offer 360-degree sound, and it has “deep and accurate bass”. There is a “magic button” on the speaker itself, which will let you control any streaming music, while also play, pause, or skip what’s playing with a single button.
Ultimate Ears has a range of different speakers, and they can be linked together to have multiple play the same song at the same time. Owners can use the Ultimate Ears app to sync up the speakers, up to 150 speakers at the same time. This feature works with any BOOM and MEGABOOM speakers.
The two-tone fabric on the speaker itself is durable, so it should last for as long as you travel.
The BOOM 3 Bluetooth speaker comes in a variety of color options: Dusk, Lagoon Blue, Moon, Night Black, Storm, Sunset Red, and Ultraviolet Purple. It’s available now from Amazon.
JBL Charge 4
If you’re looking for something with a little bit more battery life, then the JBL waterproof speaker might be the way to go. It has a 7500mAh battery inside, which the company says can last up to 20 hours on a single charge. And you can connect the speaker wirelessly to up to 2 devices at the same time.
JBL has a similar feature as Ultimate Ears, making it easy to connect the Charge 4 to a broader range of other JBL-branded wireless speakers. The company says that you can connect the Charge 4 with up to more than 100 other Connect+-enabled speakers. So if you’re invested in the JBL family, you can have a truly immersive listening experience by connecting all of the speakers.
There are five buttons on the top of the speaker: Play, power, Bluetooth, volume up and down, and a shuffle button. You can also connect your phone to the Charge 4 via the USB port on the back to charge it.
JBL’s Charge 4 wireless and waterproof speaker is available now from Amazon in these colors: black, blue, gray, green, pink, red, Sand, teal, white, and yellow.
Anker Soundforce Flare 2
The Anker Soundforce Flare 2 Bluetooth speaker has a unique, colorful design and certainly stands out. It offers 360-degree, bass-driven “immersive sound”. That sound quality is delivered through a combination of things, including a pair of drivers and passive radiators, which are combined with BassUp technology. As a result, this Bluetooth speaker can offer up to 20W of sound while out on the go.
Those colorful rings on the top or the bottom of the Soundforce Flare 2 are, well, just for show. They will actually light up, pulse, and keep in sync while your music is playing, offering up a tiny light show. This speaker offers IPX7 waterproof protection, which means it will keep playing music even if it gets rained on, or tossed into the pool.
Anker’s PartyCast technology means you can link up more than 100 other Anker Soundforce Flare 2 speakers. That means you can have a truly epic light show while all the speakers play the same song, and the lights synchronize with the music. And finally, the Sounforce Flare 2 supports customizable EQ settings, so you can fine tune your listening experience.
The Soundforce Flare 2 from Anker is available now from Amazon.
Denon’s DSB-250BT wireless and waterproof speaker has a more soundbar-like design. The physical buttons are on the side (power, volume, Bluetooth), and it looks a bit more traditional as far as a speaker is concerned than the other options. It offers up to 13 hours of battery life on a single charge, and it remains one of the more compact and portable options.
To help with the waterproof aspect, the Denon DSB-250BT is built with caps and gaskets in place. It can withstand being submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes, and it’s also dust resistant thanks to the IP67 rating. It even has a 3.5mm audio jack to play music through a wired connection.
The speaker features a pair of 1-9/16″ full-range drivers, and a single (2″x5 5/16″) passive radiator (2 x 13.5W amplified music), which should make this wireless speaker one of the best sounding options if you’re looking for sound quality more than anything else. And, yes, you can link this speaker to another speaker for left- and right-channel listening, offering up a stereo sound experience.
The Denon DSB-250BT portable waterproof speaker is available now from Amazon in black and gray.
Bose SoundLink Revolve+
Bose is known for its sound quality in its wide range of audio products, and that’s the case with the company’s SoundLink Revolve+ wireless and waterproof speaker. It offers 360-degrees of sound with plenty of bass for good measure. The battery tucked inside means you can listen to music on a single charge for up to 16 hours.
This Bluetooth-enabled speaker makes it easy to activate your phone’s digital assistant, too. And, what’s more, it has a built-in microphone so you can take calls on it as well. The wireless range of the speaker is about 30 feet. And, just like the other wireless speakers, you can connect the SoundLink Revolve+ wireless speaker to other Bose options, including another SoundLink Revolve+ for stereo sound experience.
The speaker has a fabric handle for easy carrying, and it supports wireless charging with a charging base (sold separately or in a different bundle).
The speaker is made from aluminum and is water resistant thanks to its IPX4 rating.
The Bose SoundLink Revolve+ is available now from Amazon in Triple Black and Lux Gray.
