TimTam Deep Tissue Massage Gun

I think the jury is still out on whether percussion massage guns have any real medical benefit for workout recovery, but having tried one myself, I can tell you it does feel great. It’s like a localized, deep-tissue massage that you can give yourself after a tough gym session. Now there are literally hundreds of these things on the market, but I like this one for its power, price and positive reviews.

NextRoller Vibrating Foam Roller

At almost 1/3rd the cost of the above massage gun, you can get the NextRoller vibrating foam roller. Foam rollers are a popular tool for working on things like recovery, mobility and pliability. I use one as part of my stretching routine before/after an intense workout. This one happens to vibrate at 3 speeds, is small enough to fit in your gym bag, and has a 4.5-star Amazon rating.

Stack 52 Quick Sweat Fitness Dice

health and fitness 2019 Holiday gift guide

This is kind of a neat idea. Quick Sweat is a dice/card game made to help you mix up a monotonous workout routine. There are six dice you roll which will tell you which workouts to do and how many sets. If you’re unfamiliar with a workout, you can scan the QR code on the corresponding card for a link to a video demonstrating it. You can do the workouts just about anywhere, no additional equipment needed.

BOTTLED JOY 2.5L Large Capacity Water Jug

Yeah I decided not to go with a connected water bottle here. We already get too many alerts as it is. Anyway when I was looking at ‘dumb’ water bottles a few months back, I wanted: 2.5L or bigger so I didn’t have to waste time constantly refilling it, a minimal design that didn’t draw attention at the gym, BPA-free plastic, and a leak-proof lid so it wouldn’t accidentally spill in my bag. I bought this one and so far, so good.

Nexersys N3 Elite Personal Boxing Trainer

Now I want to be clear here: I don’t think I or anyone else needs the N3 Elite personal boxing trainer. It’s insanely expensive. But man oh man do I want one. It has a commercial grade steel frame, high-density foam pads, and a built-in 18.5-inch HD touchscreen tablet. It offers interactive training with real-time accuracy and strike data, and it uses Microsoft’s PlayFab platform, so you can compete against others.
