Apple will launch a $40 clear case for iPhone XR

Buried in the Sept. 12 Canadian press release announcing the iPhone XR is text mentioning that Apple plans on releasing a CA$55 (US$40) clear case for the new handset. This nugget of information was discovered recently by a Twitter user, aptly named ivanincanada (via AppleInsider).

The information on the press release reads, “Apple-designed accessories for iPhone XR including a clear case will be available starting at $55 (CAD).” Interestingly, although a clear case is also mentioned on Apple’s French and Germany sites, it’s not alluded to in the press release for the iPhone XR in the United States.

No doubt the iPhone XR is one that deserves a clear case. Like the iPhone 5c before it, the iPhone XR comes in various colors, including white, black, blue, yellow, coral, and (PRODUCT)RED.

Announced alongside the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max in September, the 6.1-inch iPhone XR features many of the same internals found in those handsets, including an all-new A12 Bionic chip. It also includes a Liquid Retina Display with a unique aluminum and glass design.

Customers will be able to pre-order the iPhone XR beginning Friday, October 19 in more than 50 countries and territories including Andorra, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Japan, Jersey, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UAE, UK, US and US Virgin Islands.

The handset arrives in those countries one week later on Friday, Oct. 26.
