Apple releases the ninth watchOS 5 beta for developers

On Friday, Apple introduced the ninth watchOS 5 beta for developers. The update comes one day after the company released the tenth iOS 12 beta to developers and eighth iOS 12 public beta to members of the company’s Apple Beta Software Program.

With a build number of 16R5360a, watchOS 5 beta 9 isn’t expected to include any new features. If it does, we’ll update this post.

WatchOS 5 was first announced in June alongside iOS 12, tvOS 12, and macOS Mojave. The Apple Watch update includes a few new features, including activity competitions, auto-workout detection, a Podcasts app, and a Walkie-Talkie feature. With the update, the Siri watch face also supports third-party apps.

Like the other updates, watchOS 5 should be released to the public in the coming weeks following the announcements of new hardware products for the year. The Apple Watch Series 4 is expected to feature a design change and include smaller bezels and a larger display.
