ChromaHomeBarX brings Razer Chroma-inspired color effects to the iPhone X’s Home Bar

Being that I’m a huge fan of PC gaming, a particular new jailbreak tweak dubbed ChromaHomeBarX by iOS developer Afnan Ahmad grabbed my attention while I was perusing the recent releases in Cydia this week.

Just as the name implies, ChromaHomeBarX augments the appearance of your iPhone X’s Home Bar with Razer Chroma-inspired animated color effects, as shown above.

In case you aren’t familiar with Razer Chroma, it’s mainly part of a software application developed by Razer for its gaming PCs and branded peripherals that powers their multi-colored LED lighting effects.

The video example below demonstrates the impact ChromaHomeBarX has on the iPhone X’s Home Bar. Take note of the colorful animations that replace the Home Bar’s bland light gray tint:

ChromaHomeBarX is fully customizable, so you’ll find a preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure it to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle the tweak on or off on demand
  • Configure an animation style for the Home Bar color effects
    • Wave
    • Spectrum
    • Fade
    • Breathing
    • Static
  • Configure primary and secondary colors for the fade animation
  • Configure a breathing color
  • Configure a static color

A Respring is necessary to save any changes you make to the Settings, which is why the developer includes a handy button at the bottom of the preference pane for doing so.

Depending on how much you enjoy the aesthetic, ChromaHomeBarX can make for a great addition to your jailbroken iPhone X. It’s sure to turn some heads, and it looks great.

If you’re interested in trying ChromaHomeBarX, then you can download it for free from Cydia’s BigBoss repository. The tweak works on all jailbroken iPhone X handsets.
