Apple Pencil 2 rumored to feature iPad-attaching magnetic system & pocket clip

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple will refresh its tablet lineup this year, adding a new model with a screen measuring between ten and 10.5 inches diagonally. A new rumor published Wednesday by Dutch blog Letem svetem Applem alleges that Apple Pencil 2 is due soon.

The second-generation Apple Pencil is thought to feature an all-new magnetic system to let users attach it securely to iPad’s bezel, similar to Apple’s Smart Cover for iPad. Additionally, Apple Pencil 2 should include a standard pen clip for clipping the accessory to a user’s pocket for quick and easy access.

The report makes no mention of other possible hardware features. As you know, the original Apple Pencil debuted in fall 2015 alongside the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

The current-generation Apple Pencil supports both 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro models and packs in such features as ultra-smooth tracking and built-in sensors for tilt and pressure sensitivity which allow for greater precision than a typical stylus and can sense 1,000 varying degrees of pressure.

The second-generation Apple Pencil should arrive some time this Spring, according to a source on Chinese microblogging site Weibo cited in the report.

The refreshed accessory may easily launch alongside second-generation iPad Pro 2 models which are expected to run an enhanced version of Apple-designed A10 Fusion chip from iPhone 7 and include other hardware advancements.
