Harmon Kardon SoundSticks: when modern industrial design meets beautiful sound

Harman Kardon SoundSticks

Some speakers are great for on-the-go listening. Others are meant for rugged used in the outdoors. There are plenty of quality mobile Bluetooth speakers out there. But what about stationary speakers? Harman Kardon, one of the best-known quality sound system companies, offers the SoundSticks Wireless Bluetooth Speaker System so you can stream media from your iPhone in style.

The three-piece sound system features a six-inch down-firing subwoofer and two satellite speakers that are about two feet tall, but are thinner than a foot-long sub.

The 40-watt system streams audio from any Bluetooth-enabled device, but it also comes with a 3.5mm jack so you can plug any device with a compatible connector in (including a computer or TV set).

The subwoofer is down firing in order to ensure balance in any type or size of room. The flared port reduces unwanted noise when the volume is turned up high. You can adjust the bass levels using a dedicated knob on the back of the subwoofer.

The adjustable satellite speaker “sticks” each comes with four full-range transducers for better quality of sound at any volume. The right speaker features touch-sensitive controls so you can increase or decrease the volume or muting playback. You can lightly touch the controls to adjust sound instead of pushing buttons or flipping switches.

The speakers connect to the subwoofer using detachable auxiliary cables so you can replace them with cables that have more length if you prefer.

Incidentally, the predecessor of the SoundSticks, the wired version (called SoundSticks II), is now part of a permanent collection at New York’s Museum of Modern Art due to the system’s unique style.

The Harman Kardon SoundSticks Wireless Bluetooth Speaker System is available for $230 on Amazon today.
