Tim Cook kicks off Apple Watch event with retail numbers and other stats

Apple’s ‘Spring Forward’ event in San Francisco has begun this morning, and as usual, Tim Cook has taken the stage first to talk about the company’s performance over the last several months. As you may recall, Apple had a monster holiday quarter after launching new iPhones and Apple Pay in the fall, so the CEO has plenty to talk about.

Here are some of the highlights from Cook’s opening:

  • 453 Apple stores in 16 countries
  • 6 stores opened in China within last 6 weeks
  • 21 stores in China, with a plan to have 40 next year
  • 120 million customers visited Apple Stores last quarter
  • 25 million Apple TV units sold thus far
  • 700 million iPhones sold thus far
  • Customer satisfaction rating of 99% for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
  • Over 2500 banks supporting Apple Pay
  • Nearly 700,000 retailers accepting Apple Pay across the US
  • 40 new models of cars will support CarPlay this year
  • Now 900 apps that help you manage and track your health and fitness
