Just in time for NFL season, EA Sports has released a mobile version of its latest Madden NFL game, aptly-named ‘Madden NFL Mobile.’ The release coincides with the game’s highly-anticipated console release, which began hitting store shelves early this morning.

The good news is, it appears that EA has really improved graphics and animations over last year’s mobile Madden title. The bad news, however, is that not much else has changed. The game still requires an Internet connection, and it’s littered with in-app purchases.

The game offers the usual set of features found in the franchise. Users can build their ‘Ultimate Team,’ customizing your rosters with real NFL players that you can collect, manage and upgrade. You can also get live updates from the NFL, and create rivalries with friends.

From what I’ve seen so far, it looks like the game still offers a decent Madden experience—it’s just a shame EA had to dilute it with its ‘Stamina Energy’ system and IAPs. At any rate, if you want to check it out, you can find Madden NFL Mobile in the App Store for free.
