Assassin’s Creed: Pirates now available in the App Store

Great news for gamers this morning. Ubisoft’s highly anticipated mobile game Assassin’s Creed: Pirates is now available in the App Store. The release comes 3 months after the studio announced the title, which is exclusive for smartphones and tablets.

In Pirates, you’ll play as Alonzo Batilla, a young and ambitious captain looking to take on the fiercest of enemies. You’ll build up your crew and ship, and engage in real-time naval battles across the Caribbean Sea illustrated in “groundbreaking 3D visuals.”

From Ubisoft’s official blog:

You play as Alonzo Batilla and explore the Caribbean, upgrading your ship and engaging in real-time naval battles on your path to claiming a legendary treasure and becoming the most feared pirate of your time.

Upgrade your ship with better sails and weapons and recruit new crewmembers to acquire perks that will make you a better captain. Use cannons, mortar and swivel guns in battle to tear your enemies apart up close or from a distance, and rise through the ranks of the pirates of the era.”

And here’s the teaser trailer:

Keep in mind that this is an Assassin’s Creed title, so you can expect to cross paths with Templars and Assassins on your journey. And Ubisoft says you’ll also encounter characters from the studio’s latest major console release: Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag.

If you’d like to check it out, you can find Assassin’s Creed: Pirates in the App Store, for both the iPhone and iPad, for $4.99. It looks like the game requires you to be running iOS 7 or later, and Ubisoft recommends that you have an iPhone 4s or higher.
