Since our most recent post on the subject of Luca Todesco’s Yalu jailbreaks for iOS 10, we have been receiving queries from our readers about the status of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Although the two flagship devices were supported on the first version of the tool, which was for iOS 10(.1(.1)), they were omitted from the follow-up tool for iOS 10.0-10.2.

This has caused some to doubt whether these devices will ever see a stable build of the jailbreak, and whether they have been forgotten about. Fortunately, these worries are groundless; support for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is still very much planned.

In a recent tweet, Todesco confirmed his intention to finish up his work on yalu1011, the name given to the version of his Yalu jailbreak that specifically supports the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which cannot jailbreak on iOS 10.2 with yalu102. The tweet in question is included below:

Hopefully this will be encouraging news for flagship device users who have managed to remain on iOS 10.0-10.1.1, and will put an end to the questions on the subject. Todesco has always claimed that iP7(+) support will come, with no statements to the contrary ever being made. However, with the lack of status updates for the device in the last couple of weeks, it seems he felt it necessary to re-state his position.

The stability of yalu1011 for iOS 10.0-10.1.1 was never quite up to scratch, which led Todesco to propose a solution: he would rewrite the tool for greater stability, a side effect of which was the addition of support for iOS 10.2. The resulting tool, called yalu102, took over much of his attention and effort and has now reached a stable beta supporting all 64-bit devices on iOS 10.0-10.2, except for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The last stage of his proposed plan for the jailbreak is to backport the changes made in the newer tool to the older one, so that the last two 64-bit devices can be added to the jailbreak list, at least on firmwares from iOS 10.0-10.1.1.

All we need do now is have patience, until Todesco finds the time to finish up the tool. There is no longer any doubt that, although they won’t receive an iOS 10.2 jailbreak this time round, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will soon receive a stable tool on the lower firmwares.

    Patiently waiting…

  • websyndicate

something about the face of Kim Jong-un on there tells me to stay away. Not touching this jail break.

  • jay

Is it still important to jailbreak ?

    • David Ruiz

Same thoughs here. All I miss from jailbreak is Activator but tethered one just dont worth it.

      • Carter

Semi tethered… it’s actually hardly noticeable

      • Andrieux Querido

        Can you explain it please

    • MMA Rules

Don’t know man, I used to be the one that jumped on a jailbreak as soon as it came out, there are tweaks that are awesome but this long wait made me lose interest, there are things you can get without it like YouTube++, Instagram++, Movie Box, etc.

      • jay

i know thats all nice but for how many people important? i did all jailbreaks but since iOS 10 i do not feel the need anymore.

      • So Young

iOS 10 is still a major reason to jailbreak for me just for dark mode itself. Dark message apps, Dark keyboard, and finally dark notifications with noctis on my 6s+. Wish I stayed on 9.3.3 but still..yalu beta 7 is stable enough for the 4-5 tweak I needed to do what Apple refuse to offer for years,

      • Blip dude

Exactly, give me Dark Mode, and Forecast and Quick app access on the lock screen and good bye jailbreak!! Until then, I’ll pretty much continue to play the cat and mouse game.

    • Mike M. Powell

Honestly not really, started falling off since iOS 7-9. Since the revamp in iOS I’ve felt the need to be on the beta since released in July.

Also since a lot of good devs left the scene :/

  • Tony Trenkle Jr.

Well that doesn’t help, im on 10.2!

    • nathan stout

That’s not his problem. He specifically told people on iPhone 7(+) to stay on 10.1.1. You people don’t listen to instructions and then complain.

      • Tony Trenkle Jr.

Uh I was already on 10.2 when he announced this. So it was already too late.

      • Joshua Ventura

He said this a long time ago, more than a month ago…

      • Tony Trenkle Jr.

I know…I was on the Public beta of 10.2 and that was more than a month ago. So again I was too late.

      • Joaquim Barbosa

You could easily have downgraded from the beta to iOS 10.1.1 at that time. This is only a follow up article. I have been saying in many articles for a long time that iP7(+) would not get a 10.2 jailbreak. Sorry that you missed the signing!

      • Tony Trenkle Jr.

Oh I know that. I didn’t downgrade on purpose because ive had some screw ups before and didnt wanna risk losing all my stuff. I know I could’ve backed it up on itunes and restored it that but I just didn’t wanna mess with things. But the guy did say not to go to 10.2.1 and stay at 10.2 because there’s still a chance. So I’m staying at .2

      • YaBoyLilMayo

Maybe some people got their phone with 10.2 on it already stop being a bit*ch about it it’s not that serious bruh

  • Sadrazam

I’m glad for iPhone 7 users. I’m a satisfied user of the beta 7 jailbreak on an iPhone SE 10.2. Just need some tweak updates.

    • Blacklight: Retribution

Lucky. My new iPhone SE came on iOS 9.3.3. I wanted it on iOS 10.2. I was able to jailbreak it regardless but still.

      • Sadrazam

So you got your SE after apple stopped signing 10.2?

  • William Melendez

    Glad I waited it out.

  • Rozi Khan

We are still waiting as I’m already on iOS 10.2!

    • nathan stout

That’s not his problem. He specifically told people on iPhone 7(+) to stay on 10.1.1. You people don’t listen to instructions and then complain. Smh

      • Y2J: Keeper of the List

I bought a 7+ a few weeks ago and it came with 10.2 so I didn’t have a choice. Get off your high horse.

      • me too bro.. I bought a 7 (with ios 10.1.1) but had to send it back because it was faulty and a few weeks later i got a brand new 7 with ios 10.2 🙁

      • i know that feeling, i had a 7 plus on 10.1.1 jailbroke with yalu, but went in store and came out with a new 7 plus but on 10.2 so i had no choice

      • Blip dude

Best Buy also just simply updates your Brand New phone without your consent, or at least that’s been my experience. Had to tell them that as soon as my transaction was approved, they had no right to simply start touching my phone.

      • Y2J: Keeper of the List

I would be absolutely furious. At Sprint they tried to back up my 6S+ when I turned it in and I was like uh no, I already did it just give me my phone. Retailers, man.

      • Rozi Khan

Thanks a lot for your reply dear…We will keep on waiting till a supporting jailbreak get released!

  • pnh

So basically, if we have an iPhone 7 or (+) and already went to 10.2, we’re screwed?!

    • Stoner Simpson

I had updated to 10.2 on my iPhone 7 Plus on accident last week. So I able to get my speakers to sound distorted by messing with them. Then I made an appointment at the Apple Store and got a new iPhone 7 Plus on 10.1.1. I had some scratches and dents on it so it was a win win. Idk if you guys will be brave enough to try that but it worked for me and it’s not the first time. Apple is pretty good at replacing phones. Depending where you live you can get an appointment the same day.

      • Raffa

you… screwed up your speakers by purpose just to get an appointment at Apple where you replaced it? :/

      • Stoner Simpson

Ass crazy as that sounds yeah. Usually anything that doesn’t look like you did it apple will replace your phone for you. Once I even had a hairline crack on my screen once and they replaced it for free. I’ve had a button on my phone that was hard to push (I accidentally spilled syrup on my phone ) they replaced it.

      • Sbrego

What did you do with the speakers? Just to know, maybe in the future…

      • Stoner Simpson

I blew air where the speaker was with a air compressor for some minutes took like 4-5 try’s

      • Sbrego

Awesome ahah i’ll do that too

      • Lol

what else u can do to get your jailbreake 🙂

  • Cerberus The Wise

Not for the latest firmware, doesn’t work on many devices, not untethered, jailbreaking isn’t what it used to be.

  • Itzkhaoz

    Can i jailbreak 10.0.1 iPhone 6 Plus?

    • iOS Kush

Sorry homie you miss the bus. I own the same phone and the announcement was pretty clear for everyone to get on 10.2 before it was no longer being signed and the Jailbreak for iPhone 6 was released on Monday.

      • Vander Tramp

lol no bro. he said to get to 10.2 cause it has more bug fixes and is more stable than the previous versions. the Yalu app states “for all iOS 10 unto 10.2 pre i7/+”

      • iOS Kush

        Rather be stable than not.

      • Joaquim Barbosa

Vander Tramp is right, you can jailbreak just fine on iP6(+) on 10.0.1.

      • iOS Kush

Yup. Just glad to be jailbroken myself ✌

    • Vander Tramp

Yes. Its iOS 10.0 to 10.2

  • stylesbeyond

    what a misleading title

    • Joaquim Barbosa

Why? Is jailbreak support for iPhone 7 not still coming? It is. The content of the article goes into more depth, but the title is quite literally correct. Thanks.

  • Rahimo

Nice news!! but I don’t have an iPhone 7 hahaha

Off topic question: Is anyone else not able to access their Cydia account?? Everytime I press “Manage Account” the button just greys out so I can’t log in.

    • Joaquim Barbosa

      Try the Cydia beta instead.

      • Blip dude

Thank you sir. The critical updates didnt officially appear at first but right as I was about to add a repo BAM!! I see a Cydia update and everything is mostly back to normal.

  • Luzsec

I waiting really long time to wait stable iOS 10 untethered jailbreak ( hope from : pangu team ) but it never show ( already upgrade to iOS 10.2 iPhone 7 & there is no JB ), so i was thinking to switch to S8 edge after released, if there are no iOS untethered jailbreak for iOS 10, i really bored with iPhone 7 with no jailbreak ( costumization etc.. )

    So Disappointed!

  • Alejandro Maximo Marez

I’m sure that I’m overthinking all of this… iPhone 7+ running iOS 10.1.1. Yay or nay?

  • Diogo Salvador

Is it possible to jailbreak iOS 10.2.1 on my 6s? Somebody help me pls I’ve been looking everywhere and I don’t know if the pangu jailbreak is real or not

  • Jone Jak

  • PatientlyWaiting

Ok, does anyone know if this guy is even working on i7+ stable release. When I look at his twitter feed it’s everything but. He promised a stable release for those on 10.1.1 and it’s almost been a month now. Should I just use the unstable version because it looks like he isn’t interested in working on it anymore?

  • George Siziya

I have an iPhone 6 plus on iOS 9.1….Can I jailbreak it? If so what tool do I use? Anyone to help me please.

  • George Siziya

I need help guys. Anyone know whether I can still jailbreak my iPhone 6+ iOS 9.1? I must have a JB. I have an IP7+ On iOS 10.2 which I can’t jailbreak and had to look for the IP6+ above.

  • Richard Fairbanks

This post is now a month old, with no information at all from Luca.
I appreciate that he is busy and doesn’t want to be pestered, but does anyone have any information on whether he has any intention on a stable release for the i7+?

  • iAmGodJr

I think I’m about to be done (officially) with Jailbreaking. All of this waiting simply isn’t worth it for me anymore. Fortunately, apps like Instagram++, Twitter++ with the combination of Cydia Impactor, does the job for me now. I rather utilize my Dev account and have the latest firmwares than stay stuck on old firmwares while impatiently waiting and simply hoping a Jailbreak is released. Apple has gotten better with features and I’m quite frankly over it..

  • Dejanelle Amandha

Good thing I kept my 6s!

    • Dejanelle Amandha

My iPhone 6s is still on iOS 9.3 so we goooddd

  • Richard Fairbanks

Luca has just posted that there will be no further jailbreaks from him and that iPhone 7[+] users can only use the December Yalu1011 beta, and only if they are still on iOS 10.1.1.

  • NOHoldsBar

People still jailbreak? Like why? The last time I jailbreaked was with ios 7. And despite what people said that it was stable it wasn’t. After a few days I went back to stock. All issues gone. Never again I’ll jail break. Besides people who jailbreak tend to lie about not having any issues.
