iPhone 7s five inch vertical dual cameras MAc Otakara 001

In addition to an iPhone 8 model with all-new industrial design and an OLED-based display, Apple is expected to refresh its existing iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones next year. According to the fairly reliable Japanese blog Mac Otakara, a brand new five-inch iPhone 7s model should join the mix next year, acting as the medium size option between the expected 4.7-inch iPhone 7s and 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus refreshes. The device is expected to feature a dual-sensor camera out the back in a vertical alignment rather than a horizontal one.

Based on data obtained from Taiwanese suppliers, Mac Otakara writes that the rumored new five-inch iPhone 7s model will have the basic specifications like the rest of the iPhone 7s series, sans the vertically aligned iSight Duo camera on the back.

Specifications for that device should be finalized during the second quarter of Apple’s 2017 fiscal year. Should the rumor pan out, 2017 iPhone lineup may look like this:

  • 4.7″ iPhone 7s with LCD screen
  • 5″ iPhone 7s with LCD screen
  • 5.5″ iPhone 7s Plus with LCD screen
  • OLED iPhone with active display area between 5.1 and 5.2 inches

What do you think, guys?

I highly doubt this will happen lmao

    That mockup looks………aweful ._.

  • Newgunnerr

Not gunna happen. I think the leaks confuse this with the new 5.2inch iphone. Its not gunna be 4 iphoneS, its going to be 3. The middle one being the actual new iphone

    • 5723alex .

Not 4 iPhone devices but 5. You forgot the 4″ SE.

    • ck125

I think they will go SE (4″) 7s or whatever it is called (5-5.2″) and the plus (5.5-5.8) and get rid of the 4.7″ model.

  • Javiers

    Apple… please don’t.

  • Srv Rungta

Nope apple won’t dilute the iPhone brand by introducing 4 models. I don’t even want them to launch 3 models. Just launch the 2 and let it be at that.

Remember when there was only 1 iphone a year? It was THE iphone. And now they are starting to mess things up with all sorts of models. They did the same thing with the Macbook Pro. (kept the Air around, Pro with Touch bar, Pro without Touch Bar, the 15-inch version). Where is the simplicity we were all proud of???

Steve really must be rolling in his grave right now.

We all know the ip8/7s+++ is coming. Might as well start walking around with our iPads and get used to it ._.

    • techfreak23

They’re also alienating some of their customers who prefer smaller phones. The 4.7″ doesn’t have the BEST camera or even the BEST screen. The SE is completely butchered as well with no 3D touch, previous gen Touch ID, and the same screen technology as the 5s. They are all over the place now.

      • Shadowelite123

The SE has about the same screen technology as the 6 and up, right? At least thats what I thought. I dont think I heard about any significant improvements other than color accuracy and such. Its a refreshed 5S anyways.

    • Shadowelite123

Same. If it caps at the Plus models, then it wouldn’t be as bad though. A cheaper model available with each new release would be nice, but hopefully that caps at 3 devices. There really isn’t a need to release a middle model like its rumored to be with an active display. Id honestly be happy if it was the top price model where the Plus models are today.

    Tim Crook. Just step down.

I first thought this was so fake. But then it struck me that landscape photography and video making would benefit greatly.

  • Jon20

Apple is starting to look like Samsung/Android with all these phone options.

    • Docservlet

      Options suck!

      • Jon20

And clearly you had the option not to make a pointless and thoughtless comment but you did so anyway. Let’s hear it for options!!!

  • Diego Milano

If this implies a technical and/or practical advantage over the standard model, then why not, it really makes no difference to me. For what it’s worth, case makers would still need to get new ones released, so…

  • Noohar

    Calling lots of BS

  • Sohail Wahab

At least place the cameras in a round aperture. Not that ugly look. I wouldn’t buy that model for sure

  • ChloeWade

I doubt they will make the higher end OLED one smaller I thought they would be bezelless and much bigger also and I think the OLED one will at least be as big as the plus or bigger bc otherwise it’s just stupid

  • techfreak23

As long as they keep the same physical size as the 4.7″ iPhone 7, I wouldn’t mind an extra bit of screen real estate.

  • ck125

I would love if they did this, or at least bring the dual camera to the smaller model The plus is just too large for the screen size but would love the dual camera.

  • lou111

Sick. It’s all about whole new phone cases and accesories. Everything will be just the same.
