downgrade iOS header

A couple of days ago, we covered how to save your .shsh2 blobs manually with tsschecker, and many of you have reported back saying you managed to successfully grab them. However, if you haven’t got them yet and don’t feel tech-savvy enough to mess around with the Terminal commands required, you can try this online tool instead which should save them for you.

The tool’s source code can be consulted online if you want to examine it, and comes courtesy of 1Conan. It is essentially an online wrapper for tihmstar’s TSSChecker but runs from a website instead of from your computer. Our guide will walk you through using it, and may help you out if you already tried TSSChecker and encountered an error, or if you haven’t the time or know-how for the more complex manual guide.

How to use it

1) Plug your device into your computer and open iTunes.

2) Navigate to the connected devices page.

3) On this page certain information about your device is visible. We need to make a note of our device’s “ECID”. This can be found by clicking repeatedly on the “Serial Number” field of your device until it appears.

iTunes ecid page

4) Make a note somewhere of this piece of information. An example “ECID” would be “1234A5678B912”.

5) Now, open a browser window and go to the following site:

6) On this page, fill in the “ECID” field that you noted from iTunes. For “ECID”, you should use the option for “Hex” rather than “Dec”. Then select your device type and model.

tsssaver form page

7) Submit the page to save your blobs. The next page that appears will give you a link to download the blobs, as you can see in the image below. I would recommend saving them immediately from the link.

tsssaver success

8) Click on the link to go to the blob download page.

9) On the page click “Download ZIP” to save your blobs to your ~/Downloads folder:

tsssaver download zip

10) Check your ~/Downloads folder for the .zip file, and double-click to unzip it. Inside should be sub-folders for each iOS version, with further sub-folders for each of the five nonces and no nonce. Inside each one of these should be an .shsh2 file.

tsssaver blobs folder

My example shows a folder for iOS 9.3.5 as that is the only signed firmware for iPad 2, but if you have a newer device you should see a folder for iOS 10.2.

And that’s it! Remember, the signing window for iOS 10.1.1 will probably close today, so your time is nearly up. I cannot guarantee how much longer you can get those blobs for.

UPDATE: iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.1.1 are no longer signed. Saving those blobs will no longer work, and you should not try to restore to them anymore.

The process outlined in this guide will still work for future iOS versions however, and you should continue to save blobs for all iOS firmwares to come as Prometheus should work to move between future firmwares, and you never know which iOS version the next jailbreak will be for.

One more thing to note is that because this is done remotely it offers no readout or feedback, so it will be up to you to verify that the .shsh2 files save correctly. Check they have non-zero file size and seem otherwise correct. I will not be able to troubleshoot this method as I do not control the tool, and it offers no error reporting. If you do encounter problems, try our previous manual guide, or try seeking help on the guide page.

Let me know how it goes!

  •  iceman™

when I go to download the zip shows 404 Not Found

    • Vinnie

same problem here… I even tried the save to google drive option

      • Joaquim Barbosa

See my comment above and if still not working, you could try my manual guide which was posted yesterday. Thanks!

      • Abhijeet Gupta

The manual one botched up my phone’s previous back ups

      • Joaquim Barbosa

Yes, I saw your comment on a previous thread Abhijeet. It is a strange outcome, nothing like that happened to me. I would recommend tweeting @tihmstar on Twitter, perhaps it’s a bug he can fix. Did the blobs get saved successfully though?

      •  iceman™

works on google chrome… persist the issue in safari

      • Joaquim Barbosa

Well spotted, glad you got them sorted!

      • Abhijeet Gupta

Yes, saved the blobs, successfully. Also I had my photos, contacts, notes and basically everything in cloud, so I don’t care about backups. Just wanted to know that I’m on 10.1 now, do I need to go to 10.1.1 or I’m good here.

      • Joaquim Barbosa

Glad you saved the blobs ok, and you can make your backup again now. I would go to iOS 10.1.1 myself, if you can download the IPSW before the signing closes. (But 10.1 is probably fine too.) Also, I would do a full restore, but BACKUP YOUR DEVICE FIRST if you want to put your backup on again after. You can follow my guide here:

      • Abhijeet Gupta

I was on 10.1.1 only, for me the phone’s battery life is kinda better on 10.1

      • Joaquim Barbosa

In that case, stay. Any jailbreak will work on iOS 10.1 as well as 10.1.1, so it doesn’t matter. Hope this helps!

      •  iceman™

I have one doubt. im on iPhone7 with 10.2. I restore to 10.1.1, so after, can I use my backup, or iphone will say that I have to upgrade to 10.2?

      • Joaquim Barbosa

You can’t use a 10.2 backup on 10.1.1. But you don’t have to upgrade to 10.2, you can just set up your device as new. Or, if you really don’t want to set up as new, you can follow the guide I linked above, but at the Restore step, option-click Upgrade, not option-click Restore, and it should preserve your data. It is better to set up as new though. Hope this helps!

      •  iceman™

R u sure? Im on 10.2, can use the option upgrade to 10.1.1? Let me tell u… I love lot of jailbreak stuffs, like: Barrel, InstaBetter, Zeppelin, Time until alarm, Lockgliph, Revealnc9, Spotlightbegone, Sweetdisplay, Alkaline, Betterfiveicondock, Nude keys, Coloflow2, but I really care about Snapchat++ 🙂

      • Joaquim Barbosa

        Yes, follow my guide:

But when you restore in iTunes, you MUST option-click “Update” and select your downloaded IPSW, DO NOT OPTION-CLICK “Restore” and select your downloaded IPSW, because that will wipe the device.

        Good luck!

      •  iceman™

Ok but I will lose the 10.2 emojis… so sad! 🙂
Any idea when JB will be released, or just God can answer that?

      • Joaquim Barbosa

Once you jailbreak, you can get the emoji back. But no, no ETA for jailbreak though I personally believe it is coming. Thanks!

      • Joaquim Barbosa

@iMaycon9:disqus do not try to downgrade now, iOS 10.1.1 is now UNSIGNED.

      •  iceman™

yes, apple blocked yesterday night. So Sad! But I saved my shsh2 blobs… Hope for a reason

      • Abhijeet Gupta

Thanks a lot for the tip 😉

      • Andre Bongon

It should be working on both browsers now.

      • Anonymouse

See my comment and it may alleviate some issues.

      • Andre Bongon

        Is the issue still happening?

      • Vinnie

it’s working now, many thanks. I also did it the manual way through Terminal but I wanted a fail safe so your method is that.

      • Andre Bongon

        That’s good to hear 🙂

    • adrian

      sane here

      • Joaquim Barbosa

        See my comments above, thanks!

      • adrian

        still doesnt work

    • Joaquim Barbosa

Sorry guys, that sounds like a problem with the site itself, I don’t think I can help you. Perhaps check the details you entered again, and try a different browser? I doubt that will fix it though, it sounds like the site’s server is having trouble…

      • Andre Bongon

        It’s fixed now 🙂

Yeah, I messed up while moving files on the server.

Thanks for posting it here btw!

  • adrian
    • Andre Bongon

That’s supposed to be fixed now 🙂

      • adrian

still doesn’t work for me 🙁

      • Andre Bongon

You used your UDID most likely. Do you have E+47 or E+46 on your link? That means the blobs are broken for you.

(It’s intentional that you can’t download zip of broken blobs)

  • Malagaitas

Can I save blobs for the 10.1.1 being on 9.3.3 version of iOS?

    • Joaquim Barbosa

Yes, you don’t need to be on a version to get its blobs. The version just has to be signed by Apple. iOS 10.1.1 is still signed for now, but maybe not for long! Good luck!

  •  iceman™

works on chrome… persist the issue in safari

  • Alberto Spatti

right click on the ECID in iTunes to copy it.

  • Anonymouse

Are the majority of iDB users on a mac or PC? Is it too much trouble to have a PC version of these instructions seeing as how you’re not going to bless us with a video. God I miss that girl that used to do video’s Jane or Jill or whatever it was. Seriously for the love of god spread your wings a bit.

    • Joaquim Barbosa

Hi, good question. Luckily here the process is identical on Windows as it’s all done via website, so there are no differences like there were for the manual guide. Good luck!

      • Anonymouse

Thanks. But I’m a bloke and now and again we like visual stimuli (I don’t make the rules it’s nature), words are good, not all mac and PC are similar, but deep down blokes love pictures, lots and lots with the words being demonstrated. Maybe it’s me so I’ll try and change for iDB 🙂

  • Melma

Thank you I saved mine just in case (10.1.1)

  • Andre Bongon

    Author here 🙂
If you have any problems please reply here.

    • Joaquim Barbosa

      Author? Did you write TSSSaver?

      • Andre Bongon

        Yes. I’m /u/1Conan

      • Joaquim Barbosa

Ah cool! Yea, I linked to your Reddit thread in my article, hopefully people will know to go there for help. (Though they clearly are asking here too).

Thanks for a great tool, are you happy with how you’re credited?

      • Andre Bongon

Yep saw it 🙂 Someone told me that it got posted here and expected people asking for help here 😀 (Which is why I also went here to help)

Thanks for posting it 😀 Well, yeah, anyone would be happy 😀

      • adrian

hey, i tried to save my shsh2 , but now i cannot download..can you help me?thanks

      • Andre Bongon

Can you contacat me via email?

    • Joshfei

Thanks for the great tool! I never would have attempted this without your work, it’s truly appreciated 🙂

      • Andre Bongon

        No problem man 🙂

    • Cha Hernandez

can i get my SHSH blobs from 10.2 if ive already updated to 10.2.1? I want to down grade for jailbreak

      • Andre Bongon

It’s not being signed anymore as of the date in this comment.
Also you can’t downgrade without a JB from 10.2.1

    • thebum232323

How do you save blobs for the iPad Air 2?

      • Andre Bongon

Follow the tutorial linked on the site or this blog post 🙂

    • linkincyde

I tried this method, but unfortunately, the downloaded zip has no content in it, except for the folder with “noapnonce”. im using iphone 6s+ with ios 9.3.3. please help. thanks!

      • Andre Bongon

That should be the case on a 6S. Only noapnonce blobs are fetched for it now since it’s pretty pointless to get nonce blobs since it doesn’t have a collision.

    • Adam Tenenbaum

Trying to say blob for an iPhone 6S on 10.2
After I input my hex and my phone model it asks me for internal name / board configuration.
What do I input for this?
      thanks so much!

      • Jitender Kumar

        Check for your processor made
Use Battery Memory System Status Monitor
Check your phone in system tab
        check your model
        mine is
        This is your model number

    • TomA

The instruction don’t work for new phones because it needs Internal Name/Model | Board Configuration. I put iPhone8,2 but it isn’t working.

    • Ondrej

is it possible to save shsh blobs without being jailbroken?

    • nik

Can you help me with an iPhone 5 GSM iOS 10.1.1 iCloud Lock?

  • Saved shsh2 for 3 different devices in under 2 minutes. No problem at all.

    • Andre Bongon

      That’s great to hear 😀

  • Francesco Suarez

Well i got the shsh2 saved online much easier and includes all the apnonce and without

    • Andre Bongon

      Using this tool?

      • Francesco Suarez

Yes.. easier than what I had to do yesterday manually lol.. also everything is nicely with each folder and it’s own iOS

      • Andre Bongon

Yeah, that’s the point of this tool 😀 Make things easier.

Glad it worked properly for you 😀

  • RafaelMelo

it went so smoothly well that I am afraid 🙂

  • Diego Milano

This is awesome; I’m gonna try this one later in the evening (although I should hurry cause I don’t know how much longer iOS 10.1.1 would be signed).

    • Joaquim Barbosa

You might be out of luck if you haven’t already; iOS 10.1.1 is now unsigned I’m afraid.

      • Diego Milano

Haha, yeah, I forgot to try it. Oh well, I still got the blobs manually via terminal even though I don’t think I got the nonce thingy, so I might be out of luck altogether, ha.

  • Andre Bongon

    RIP 10.1.1

  • Mark S

Thank you for posting this. This is the easy way to do this.

  • Vahid

I’m not sure uploading the ECID on a website is a good idea! I’d rather to use a program or something than a web-based tool …

    • Andre Bongon

Site developer here. I can’t do anything with the ECIDs.

Also I respect privacy. That data isn’t going anywhere.

  • Soe Min Oo

My downloaded zip file was empty. Please, give me shsh blobs file of my
    Iphone 4.

    • CG

This tool only gives shsh2 blobs for the iOS version currently being signed, for the iPhone 4, the only signed version iOS 7.1.2

  • Andre Bongon

@joaquimbarbosadiscuss:disqus The site added a different option now because of the recent changes in tsschecker. You need the “Internal Name” of the device now.

    • Amadou Aam

Go download Lirum Device Info on your iPhone to know your Board Configuration (Internal Name / Hardware Model)

      • Andre Bongon

        I recommend BMSSM Though.

        Im the site dev 😛

  • Ben Smith

I am on iPhone SE and it asks for Board Configuration. How do I find that?

    • Amadou Aam

Download Lirum Device Info, for the iPhone SE the Board Configuration is N69uAP (Samsung) or N69AP (TSMC).

  • Praveer

Hi, I just saved my shsh2 blobs for ios 10.2 But there are not five sub folders in my downloaded file. There is just one nonapnonce folder. Is this fine?

    Thanks for help in advance.

    • Craig Sippin

I have this same problem someone please help

    • Andre Bongon

  • linkincyde

I tried this method, but unfortunately, the downloaded zip has no content in it, except for the folder with “noapnonce”. im using iphone 6s+ with ios 9.3.3. please help. thanks!

  • Erik Aukerman

why does my shsh2 blob say 10.2 in the file name if my devices is on 9.3.3

  • Nguyen Huu Xuan

    I don’t download zip file ??? ( .shsh2 saved) help me Plz

  • SpideyRules

iDB – Please edit your site to open links in new tabs or new browser windows. I hate having to go back to the article I was reading just because I also wanted to read another article you referenced in said article…

  • ShawnTXDFW

Well, first time using TSS for anything. I’m new at learning blobs and what they are for. Not really sure what to do with them, but with guides like this it really helps in the process. The only thing that confuses me is I upgraded from 10.2 from my iPhone 7+ and then I saved my blobs according to the page. I don’t understand as to why there is a folder for 10.3.2 when I haven’t chosen nor upgraded nor installed 10.3.2 at all on my device. On top of that, the two folders that are listed only have 2 SHSH’s in each folder. I did everything per the article. Did I do this right?

  • Barry O’Brien

Great tool.. Thanks so much .. Just a quick one – I have iPhone 6 and entered ECID correctly and selected iPhone 6 as identifier however the download link (and subsequent download folders) is showing iPhone 7. Is this a glitch or is it correct/OK to DL and use for iPhone 6?

  • Hernán Grimberg

I have an iphone 6S+ and when I get into the download page to save my blobs, it says: Device Identifier: iPhone8,2
    How can this be???
