iOS 7 Music EarPods

Apple’s next flagship handset, dubbed by many to be the iPhone 7, will ship with standard 3.5mm EarPods and an adapter for the Lightning port, reports Mac Otakara. Of course, the device is widely rumored to be shipping without a headphone jack.

Should the rumors materialize, a 3.5mm-to-Lightning adapter would allow users to connect any standard-jack headphones to the new iPhone. Such a move may help appease customers who are expected to be disappointed about the hardware change.

At Computex Taipei 2016, many manufacturers showcased their new Lightning audio adaptors, and it seems there has been rumors that the EarPods with Remote and Mic to be included with the new iPhone 7 series will still come with its own headphone jack as usual, and that a Lightning headphone jack adaptor will also be included in the package.

The site goes on to reaffirm rumors that the iPhone 7 will feature two speakers, one on each side of the Lightning port, set up in a monaural system. It also notes that a 256GB model is expected. Mac Otakara has a fairly accurate record in Apple intel.

In addition to no headphone jack and dual speakers, the iPhone 7 is also believed to sport an improved camera with dual lenses (on the larger ‘Plus’ model), a touch-sensitive Home button and dual SIM. The handset should land sometime in the fall.

And how long will apple be giving these away with devices. If Apple can reduce overall costs and still charge the same they will do it. I think will see these given away with the 7 and 7s. After that it will be lighting cable headphones.

    • :D

By iPhone 8 not many people will need it and, if they do, it would likely be cheaply available by third parties. It’s kind of like SCART leads – who uses them these days lol? SCART to HDMI adapters are really cheap for those who do, though. You’ll probably also see a lot of people selling their adapters on eBay because they don’t need it. You might even be able to get one from a friend if you decide to skip iPhone 7 and iPhone 7S (assuming you’re right) and they don’t need theirs.

Wouldn’t it be easier for them to make earphones designed to work with the lightning port? I mean come on. We’re talking about Apple here; the people who withhold the latest features from us a year after to have a “solid” excuse to keep us buying the same thing. Watch! They’ll make an adapter and sell it separately. Just like they did with the the 30 pin lightning adapter, Siri Remote, game controllers, and watch bands.

I hope there’s an adapter that lets you charge and use the 3.5 mm jack at the same time. Not all of us have a Bluetooth enabled car and if I’m on a trip my phone needs to charge if I’m using maps and music from my phone.

  • Yall literally just reported a few hours ago that apple was keeping the headphone jack for the iPhone 7

    • Bill

Sometimes rumors are right, sometimes they are wrong.

    • Bugs Bunnay

There’s an unreported report that it will come equipped with an IR blaster!

  • Quilliv

If they removed the 3.5 they will lose a massive amount of people

    • MrDDify

That’s also what people said about dvd drives

      • Mike

dvd drives are still important… if you have a windows pc you can install programs from there or drivers as well as burn cds with programs.

    • 5723alex .

Tell that to Lenovo with its Moto Z with no headphone jack, but with 3.5 to USB-C adapter.

      • Quilliv

Personally I can’t live without it

      • 5723alex .

Yes you can with a adapter.

      • Bill

I see you agree with yourself on that.

      • Quilliv

        I do

    • Bill

I don’t think so dude, but nice of you to up vote yourself.

The trend is to upvote your own opinions!

So basically the sound quality would be the same…Wonder how they will justify this at the keynote….

    • Matthew Murray

I think it’s done for the purpose of a water proof phone

      • Inseltraeumer

Im not very electronics savvy but how could a lightning port be less prone to water? Both adapters use metal to connect.

      • 29un

There are phones with ip68 rating with headphone port today….

      • Matthew Murray

I think it will look better just with one water proof flap.

      • 29un

That render is cool….And I would’ve bet my life, the old apple wouldn’t do something like that because charging the phone would be a hassle…But the new apple…It’s hard to tell because it’s the same company that made the ugly battery case…

      • Matthew Murray

I could be wrong and maybe they come up with something ground breaking. Fingers crossed

      • 29un

They better….The iphone 2017 model pretty much killed this years iphone for a lot of people…Hope the big feature that Tim Cook promised won’t be some gimmick or a new blue color…
ps: space grey for the win…

  • Bugs Bunnay

Still waiting on dat sapphire screen…

  • ShadowBlader

Would rather use a bluetooth headset instead.

  • h4nd0fg0d

Most cetainly will. Cheap rich fcks

  • Tobias9413

Wow that’s awesome! Have you tried this your self and can honestly recommend it?

    • Inseltraeumer

My dad’s got one in his car and it works very well. What can I say, it’s not the most advanced tech, is it? Those things have been around for quite some time, they just never gained general popularity. 🙂
