Tim Cook on stage

Apple is planning an event for Wednesday, September 9 to announce new products, according to BuzzFeed’s John Paczkowski. The well-connected reporter is hearing that the company will use the stage to unveil new iPhones, iPads and Apple TV.

In line with previous rumors, Paczkowski says the new iPhones—which the press has been referring to as the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus—will feature pressure-sensitive Force Touch displays, improved camera systems and significantly faster processors.

Surprisingly, he believes Apple is going to show off new tablets at the event as well—something it typically reserves for a separate event in October. He’s expecting new iPad Air and mini models, and says that the rumored 12.9-inch Pro is a “wildcard.”

Finally, Paczkowski reports that a new Apple TV will also make an appearance on September 9th. Previous reports have said that the device will be slimmer and more powerful, with support for native apps and games and redesigned touchpad remote.

If the report holds true, we would expect the new iPhones to become available for purchase later in the month—possibly Friday, September 18, like they did last year. It seems likely the new iPads and Apple TV would launch during this timeframe as well.

  • Marcus

I’m most excited for an Apple TV announcement.

    • Guy

I waiting for buy a Apple TV myself. Hoping new iPhones will have 2gb or ram.

      • Marcus

I’m hoping for that as well. It would make the phone slightly thicker though and Apple doesn’t want to do that. I wish there was an iPhone 6s Air & an iPhone 6s Pro. The Air would be the thin iPhone we have now and the Pro would be thicker with better specs.

      • How would 2gigs of ram make the iPhone thicker? Absurd! We already have the Air and Pro. iPhone 6 is the air(its 6.9mm) while the iPhone 6 Plus is the pro with a better screen, bigger battery and at 7.1mm thin.

      • Marcus

If you’ve ever held a memory stick that is stored in your Mac, then you would know the size of ram. It would take up more space, but I’d rather have a bigger phone with better everything than something thin.

      • mrgerbik

Nonsense. Barely any extra space would be needed, especially since RAM isnt stacked… 2Gigs is very small on current fab tech (20nm).

      • Marcus

I don’t think Apple has any extra space for RAM horizontally. They would have to make it vertical which would make the phone thicker.

      • mrgerbik

With bigger sized devices? Of course they have room. Regardless, samsung has been making a 4Gig LPDDR3 single package for a couple years now.
Size is not a major concern

      • Marcus

Wow! I made a bad assumption. Thanks for informing me. Apple better get more RAM in the next iPhone to keep up with competition.

      • Dominic LoFranco

I have an Apple TV, and if a new one comes out this fall, I am getting it. It needs an update.

      • Guy

That’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid. I don’t own a Apple TV yet. So I’ll wait till September.

  • Ali

Presenting all these new products in one keynote doesn’t seem like Apple!

    • Dominic LoFranco

Well, let’s hope Apple spices things up for us!

    • sNick

“One more thing” is gonna happen again.

  • GoldenPearMCPE

Yes, it’s on my birthday again!

    • iPhoneWINS

      virgo power!!!

  • Bugs Bunnay

    Bring on dat ipad plus.

  • Micke på taket

    Ok eehem

  • Merman123

I’m ready. I’ll take a new iPhone and apple tv please.

  • ★Berry

When will the new Macs be released then?

    • Dominic LoFranco

At the October keynote, most likely.

  • Josh Venegas

people still think apple is going to release an iPad pro? thats the stupidest thing i’ve ever heard. its going to be a 13″ macbook air.

    • Shinonuke

And if Apple release an iPad Pro, would you start calling people stupid for buying it?

      • Josh Venegas

Yes, why not just buy a MacBook? Same processing power as an iPad anyway. And what was everyone saying apple would release when the MacBook came out…a iPad pro. This is going to be the same thing this time around. Retina MacBook Air. The computer everyone’s been waiting for.

      • Shinonuke

I don’t think the MacBook line have a touch screen option. While you may have no use for touch screen but there are professionals that utilizes the touch screen and need a more power unit. I remember a few years prior to the release of iPads. There were two tech, a light technician and a sound technician, uses the windows tablet to perform their duties. They complain about the bad interface and laggy performance of the tablet. Imagine that these guys now have more options to work with like the Microsoft Surface. Apple might be able to sale to folks like these.

    • Elias Chao

Hmm, some years ago we never thought the iPad mini will ever be real, and now there it is.

    • askep3

Why would they release a MacBook Air? Isn’t their focus on the MacBook now?

  • Pedecia

I cannot wait anylonger for the Ipad Pro!!!! Come on Apple!! For the new Apple TV I do not care much about it as probably will not be able to be jailbroken or it will?

  • Anthony Lara

Is it sad that I’m more excited about the new Apple TV?

  • Jerry

    Take all of my money

  • Faisal

iPhone 6s with 1 hour more battery life, 2x fast processor and 8mp camera.

    • Shinonuke

      I’ll take that

    • askep3

More than one hour more please! But maybe iOS 9 will fix that anyways.

    • NeftyCorrea

camera i believe is 12 mp now

      • Nathan

        /it’s still 8.

      • NeftyCorrea

yea on the 6 and 6 plus but i think the new device will have 12 mp

  • port87

its another spec bump year guys.

  • I love my Chromecast but it is very limited, if this new Apple TV works well in the UK (all catchup sites), browser, games, apps and 128GB SSD for recording and downloading, I may buy two. I have no clue what the price will be, £250 for a set top box is too high, they’re kind of competing with high end games consoles.

  • backbeat

All I’m waiting for is the new AppleTV

  • n0ahcruz3

im more excited with the ipad pro.. iphone not so much. i’ll probably wait for 7s lol

  • Marcus

I know that’s the problem. Apple doesn’t like everyone to have a huge selection of products. I think it would be beneficial to them though because it would appeal to all different kinds of people.

    • askep3

I was just thinking about lots of options when it comes to buying things, and I really appreciate there just being one or two options, because on expensive items such as this it would be really annoying to see something much better come out in a month (just outside of the return policy lol), and you can’t buy it, like if you have a Samsung Galaxy and the one plus 2 comes out (not saying the Samsung is worse, but some people might find the one plus 2 better)

I just find it easier if I know I’m only going to buy iPhones, that there isn’t going to be something much better coming out anytime soon, and when something new does come out it will be after a while and will probably be a good product.

  • Nathan

I’ll be surprised if they put in a processor in the iPhone 6S/6+S that is faster than the iPad Air 2’s A8X.

  • Excited for appletv, not bothering with an iphone or iPad upgrade. My 6 plus and air 2 will last me for a while. Next year maybe the new phone but this year is just a spec upgrade and nothing amazing is really added.
