Today, Sonny Dickson, the man responsible for several accurate hardware leaks of Apple devices, posted images of purported iPad Pro cases which indicate several features unique to Apple’s rumored 12.9-inch tablet. The case design is similar to the 9.7-inch iPad Air in shape, but shows what appear to be two Lightning connector ports, one on the bottom and another on the left of the device.

It’s worth noting that Sonny Dickson has a proven track record when it comes to leaking Apple hardware, and has proven himself accurate in the past with device cases, such as the iPhone 6 accessories he leaked nearly a year ago. This leak also coincides with other alleged iPad Pro cases we’ve reported on in the past.

The cases also point to stereo speakers, with a total of four speaker holes – two at the top of the device and another two down below – in the design. From the images, it appears that no other areas of the device, other than its size, have been changed. The mute or rotation lock switch appears to be missing from the iPad Pro, similarly to Apple’s iPad Air 2, as the only openings in that area appear to be for volume buttons, a microphone, and the power button.

Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad rumors have been around for a while, but the device is expected to launch later this year.

I think one of the ports are usb-c. So one lightning port and the other one usb-c.

  • XZavier

Is that power button on top? Shouldn’t it be on the side?

    • Byron C Mayes

Power buttons are on top of full-size iPads (up to the current iPad Air 2).

People wanted smaller iPads, not larger. My iPad mini is perfect, I never use my full sized one, why would anyone want this? It would need to be a hybrid that runs OS X too and has a detachable keyboard for me to be interested.

  • Apple’s iPad 3 was not so impressive and that is reason Apple is making changes to it. I don’t trust the things like these untill officially announced related to the design and performance. Apple will always make everything new and innovative so I dont think they will continue with the iPad 2’s looks.
